"That's a sedative," Qiqi confirmed with certainty, then pleaded, "Sister Meixue, think of something quickly."
Meixue nodded, speaking with a hint of pride: "As a fox spirit with five hundred years of cultivation, my specialty is illusion magic. That means I can transform Rong Yi into someone else's appearance, sparing him from the IV ordeal."
"And then?"
"Then I'll use teleportation to get him out."
"Wow, that's amazing."
"But—" The fox drew out the word, raising a finger and wagging it. "My main focus is illusion magic, so I'm not very skilled at teleportation yet, and the spell takes a long time to cast. From what I've observed, the doctors here make rounds frequently, and we might run into them midway. So, I need someone to replace Rong Yi, to take on his appearance and distract the doctors, giving me time to get him out."
Huh? They'd need someone else? Did that mean an innocent person would have to suffer in Rong Yi's place? That was too cruel. As the saying goes, don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to yourself.
Qiqi offered a suggestion: "Could you turn both yourself and Rong Yi into doctors' appearances and walk out of the hospital through the main entrance? That way, you wouldn't need to use teleportation."
"That's a good idea," Meixue said, her eyes lighting up.
Just then, Qiqi noticed in the illusion on the wall that the ward door had opened, and two people in white coats walked in. One, a woman who looked like a nurse, went to the IV stand to check the remaining fluid in the bottle. The other, a man who seemed to be a doctor, went to the bedside and roughly pushed Rong Yi's head, but Rong Yi didn't react. The doctor seemed satisfied with this result, nodded to the nurse, and they closed the door as they left.
"Perfect, we'll transform into their likenesses." Meixue squinted slightly, pointing a finger at Qiqi. Before Qiqi could react, she found herself transformed into the nurse's appearance. Looking at Meixue, she had already become the male doctor.
This fox spirit's illusion magic was truly impressive.
"I'll take you along so you can feel at ease. Besides, Rong Yi is unconscious now, and carrying him out alone would be difficult and might draw attention. With your help, we can support him on either side, making it less likely to be noticed."
Meixue explained and then smiled, "There are plenty of doctors in the hospital anyway. Once we're over there, we can transform Rong Yi into another doctor's appearance."
Qiqi thought it made sense and nodded.
"Now I'm going to cast the teleportation spell. Gu Qiqi, close your eyes."
Qiqi obediently shut her eyes. Then she felt a breeze around her, followed by a lightness in her body as she tumbled to the ground.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself indeed in Rong Yi's ward.
Teleportation was truly amazing.
"Rong Yi!" Qiqi rushed to his side, gently shaking him. But Rong Yi lay still, eyes tightly shut.
It seemed the sedative had knocked him out completely.
Qiqi's heart ached. She quickly pulled the needle from the back of Rong Yi's hand and lifted the blanket, trying to get him out of bed. That's when she noticed his entire body was bound tightly with cloth strips—probably the hospital's precaution against him resisting.
"Alright, let me handle this. You go keep watch at the door," Meixue said, swiftly pushing Qiqi toward the entrance. "If you want to kiss and cuddle, now's not the time. There'll be plenty of that once we've rescued him."
