Then she delivered a vicious kick to Qiqi's waist. "Where did you, a lunatic, come from? How dare you swap my patient? Where's Rong Yi? He was personally sent here by the city patrol—if I lose him, I can't bear the consequences!"
Qiqi felt a sharp, stabbing pain in her waist—ouch, how could a female nurse wear such high heels, and with pointed toes, practically like hidden weapons?
She wanted to scramble up and back away a few steps, but whether from the sedative or not, her whole body felt weak and limp, utterly drained of strength. She could only manage to shift a little to the side and reply, "I don't know what's going on. How did I end up here?"
She was determined not to admit anything, because she truly couldn't explain the whole chain of events to them.
The female nurse interrogated her for a bit, but seeing that Gu Qiqi was slow to react, groggy, and couldn't say anything clearly, she decided to ignore her—after all, the sedative dose from last night was quite large, originally calculated for a man's weight, and now it had all been infused into this girl's body. It was a miracle she hadn't died from the overdose; if she had, it would have been a real hassle.
The nurse spat a few times, relieved, and went off to kick someone else. Only then did Qiqi realize she wasn't alone on the lawn—not far away, four other people lay side by side, all in striped hospital gowns, unconscious.
So, she wasn't the only one still out from an overdose.
She looked up ahead and saw a small white building less than ten meters from the lawn, which seemed to be the ward—she must have been sleeping in that building last night, right? The nurse must have discovered the swap during morning rounds, couldn't wake her, and so just dumped her on the grass to be drenched by the rain.
On the first-floor corridor of the white building, several doctors stood under the eaves, watching like spectators; beside them, a group of patients, with expressions ranging from indifferent and stiff to manic and crazed, were all enjoying the spectacle under the doctors' supervision.
"Doctor, why are they out there taking a bath so early in the morning?" a patient asked, standing in the corridor with a puzzled look.
The doctor in the white coat replied, "Because their minds aren't clear."
The patient scratched his head. "Ah, is it because they didn't obediently drink their sugar water before bed last night?"
The doctor nodded. "You're very smart. If you don't drink the sugar water the nurse sister gives you before bed, your mind won't be clear the next day, and if your mind isn't clear, you get punished with a bath."
The patient slapped his own forehead. "Oh, no wonder! They deserve a good punishment!"
Qiqi's head started to ache at the sight—this hospital really had plenty of genuine lunatics.
But what was this "sugar water" all about?
Over there, the female nurse, holding an umbrella in one hand and a stick in the other, kicked each person in turn, shouting as she went, "You damn lazy pigs, get up!" and "Stop playing dead, or I'll get nasty!" She cursed crudely all the way, and soon everyone on the lawn was awake.
Among them, one female patient was particularly emotional. After waking up, she grabbed the nurse's leg and wailed, "I'll move, I'll move, just let me out, please! I don't want the house anymore!"
The nurse kicked her away. "Too late for regrets now!"
Another male patient, quite old but with an unusually fiery temper, woke up and pointed at the doctors, cursing, "You bastards, animals, butchers! I'm going to the central government, I want to see the President, I'll report your atrocities—"
