Chapter 43: Chapter 43: You're a Demon Too

The Wolf King didn’t answer her, but thought to himself—I thought you two were like senior and junior disciples from some martial arts sect…

When mentioning Senior Brother Lu, Qiqi’s eyes showed admiration: “Although Senior Brother Lu and I are alumni, he’s a true senior. No matter how hard I try, I can probably only admire him from afar…”

The Wolf King frowned: “Lu Wei is a demon.”

Qiqi glared at him: “Don’t you dare say that about Senior Brother Lu!”

The Wolf King: “He is a demon—I can smell the scent of a demon. In that clinic, when he drugged me, I clearly caught the demonic aura on him…”

“You’re a monster yourself!” Qiqi huffed, shooting him a glare, then shook him off and walked toward the roadside.

Just then, Qin Chen, now in a white lab coat, walked over and silently followed behind Qiqi.

Seeing this, Rong Yi immediately stepped forward to block his path: “Kid, didn’t you hear what I said? Don’t you dare get near my cousin!”

Qin Chen’s face paled, and he replied softly, “I’m just going to help her move the bodies.”

“No need for your help—I’ll help her move them!” Rong Yi said.

“But you’re not even a student in our class!”

The two stood off outside the lab, immediately drawing the attention of the other students. A few nosy ones leaned out the window to sneak a peek—

“Hey, who’s that guy? Why’s he blocking Qin Chen?”

“I heard Qin Chen and Qiqi broke up. That guy looks ready to fight Qin Chen—could he be Qiqi’s new boyfriend?”

“Not necessarily! He looks more like an intern sneaking into the lab class! Look, he’s even wearing a mask!”

“Dissection class is important, so it’s not that strange for someone to crash it…”

“Even with the mask on, he’s got a great build—probably no worse than Qin Chen…”

Damn, gossip really follows people everywhere!

Gu Qiqi rolled her eyes inwardly, turned back, and tugged at Rong Yi: “Come on, come on! Let’s all go together!”

So the three of them set off in a line, marching toward the morgue.

The school morgue was in the basement, two floors down, accessible only by elevator.

As the three entered the elevator, the old machine creaked and groaned, the dim light overhead flickered, and the temperature dropped sharply.

The atmosphere around them felt eerie.

The Wolf King stood alertly between Qiqi and Qin Chen, keeping them apart. As the elevator slowly descended, a strange smell grew stronger. He twitched his nose and suddenly asked, “Are we going to a tomb?”

He could smell the scent of death.

“Something like that,” Qiqi replied dismissively.

The three reached the second basement level, walked through a narrow, slightly damp corridor, and arrived at the entrance where the guard sat.

Qin Chen went to register, while Qiqi walked straight to the edge of the pool where the bodies were stored.

The pungent smell of yellow formalin solution was overwhelming, and the Wolf King sneezed several times in a row. The pool for storing bodies was huge and crowded, with all the bodies floating face-down. Their long hair tangled like seaweed, and stiff limbs and torsos bobbed on the surface—a sight that packed quite a visual punch at first glance.

Qiqi approached the pool, picked up a long pole, and began fishing out a body. The stirring rod slid through the murky water, creating ripples; the bodies swayed left and right in the pool with the waves, gently bumping against the walls like boiled dumplings.

Seeing the girl’s calm expression and skilled handling of the pole, Rong Yi felt his scalp tingle: “Qiqi, that wooden pole in our living room—it didn’t come from your school, did it?”
