Qiqi was amused by his remark.
Zhou Yi turned back again, his fox-like eyes narrowing with a pressing intensity as he swept his gaze over the beauties. The women scattered like startled birds, each seeking their own amusement elsewhere. Though they had been entrusted by Zhou Zhibi, none of them dared to provoke Zhou Yi.
"I'll have to excuse myself for a moment," Zhou Yi said, bowing politely to Qiqi before turning and walking away. Qiqi watched him head straight to Zhou Zhibi's side; then, her face turned pale as her brother grabbed one of her hands and half-dragged, half-pulled her out of the venue.
Lu Wei felt deeply apologetic for his lack of attentiveness. "Qiqi, I'm really sorry about tonight."
"It's fine. I had a good time with Young Master Zhou too," Qiqi replied softly.
Neither of them re-entered the dance floor. Lu Wei could tell that Qiqi was feeling down; besides, she had twisted her ankle earlier, which worried him. He asked, "Qiqi, does your foot hurt? Do you want me to take a look?"
Qiqi glanced at the people bustling around and quickly shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Then let me accompany you outside for a walk and some rest. It's too noisy after being on the dance floor for so long," Lu Wei said.
Qiqi looked at him gratefully. "Mm, thank you, Senior Brother."
The two left the venue and stepped into the expansive garden outside. The garden was also European in style, vast and lush with vegetation, with several exquisite stone sculptures at the entrance. Passing through a crescent-shaped archway of roses, they reached a small plaza at the garden's center, where a fountain gurgled, spraying mist into the air.
The place was quiet and secluded, with only the low chirping of birds and insects and the tinkling sound of the fountain.
Lu Wei helped Qiqi settle onto a stone bench hidden behind swaying flower shadows, then crouched in front of her. "Qiqi, take off your shoes and let me see your foot."
Earlier on the dance floor, he had noticed her twist her ankle, but for some reason, she had endured it without showing any sign.
Qiqi obediently slipped off her high heels, revealing her small feet. Her feet were fair and delicate, with adorable toes that were pink and rosy, as if carved from the finest mutton-fat jade.
Lu Wei held her slender ankle and gently pressed on the injured spot, causing Qiqi to let out a soft moan. He frowned. "It's not serious, but it's a bit swollen. We need to ice it."
He told Qiqi to wait where she was while he went back to the kitchen to get ice and a towel.
Qiqi sat obediently on the bench, let out a light sigh, and looked up to admire the beautiful surroundings. Tonight was a full moon, exceptionally bright and large; moonlight spilled like snow over the garden, lending it a romantic, exotic charm.
For some reason, she suddenly missed Rong Yi. She wondered if that guy had eaten dinner yet, and whether a hundred yuan was enough for him.
How would she explain things to him when she got back? She'd have to coax him to calm him down, right?
Mm, it seemed she'd need to get him a phone in the future, so she could call him whenever something came up.
Lost in these random thoughts, her gaze caught a flash of green light in the darkness ahead! Startled, she stood up without thinking and crept quietly toward the glow.
She recognized that light—when Rong Yi turned into a wolf, his eyes always emitted such a gleam in the dark. She remembered that when they first started living together, Rong Yi, still recovering from his internal injuries, often slept in his wolf form at night to heal faster.
