Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Fright

While the three parties were communicating, Wen Qi at the farm watched the Bulbasaur sleeping soundly in its little nest. This little guy was truly carefree, even snoring. The snoring came in waves, leaving Wen Qi both amused and exasperated. The nearby Torterra initially found this Bulbasaur interesting because it sensed a similar energy within it. But later, seeing the little one show no respect toward its owner—eating and sleeping without any manners, and now snoring in its sleep—really angered the turtle. If not for the fact that the little one was still weak, it would have definitely given it a beating. At this moment, Wen Qi was still struggling with how to handle this Bulbasaur, completely unaware that Zhou Zhiwen was almost in a fight over there.

The scene shifts back to Zhou Zhiwen. Zhou Zhiwen was extremely nervous, thinking he must not let the situation spiral out of control and had to find a way to calm the Venusaur. After Wang Jian finished speaking, learning that the Bulbasaur wasn’t with him and had been taken out of the forest by the Kecleon, the Venusaur was furious, thinking, “My grandchild has been taken away. These people must give me an explanation.” Seeing that the Venusaur was about to lose its temper, Zhou Zhiwen quickly spoke up: “Don’t rush, Lord Venusaur. I can arrange for someone to bring that Bulbasaur back.” “Wang Jian, tell me quickly where your secret base outside the forest is. I’ll send someone there right away to bring the Bulbasaur. The best way now is to return it, or else we won’t be able to leave today.” Zhou Zhiwen shouted to Wang Jian. Wang Jian was also panicking. On one hand, he feared the Venusaur’s wrath; on the other, he worried about exposing his secret base. But there was no other choice. After hearing this, Wang Jian realized Zhou Zhiwen was right and had to reveal the secret base. Once Zhou Zhiwen got the address, he looked at the Venusaur, which had calmed down a bit. “I’ll notify my colleagues outside to check it out. According to Wang Jian, as long as nothing unexpected happens, the Kecleon and Bulbasaur should have reached that place by now.” Hearing this, the Venusaur slightly restrained its aura. Zhou Zhiwen breathed a sigh of relief, having feared the Venusaur might unleash a powerful move and take him out instantly. He quickly called Captain Jiang Tiansheng to report the situation. Jiang Tiansheng hadn’t expected his subordinate to be so capable and said, “I’ll handle it. I’ll send someone to check that place soon. You calm the Venusaur first, preferably getting it to stop the forest’s chaos.” “But be careful. Keep an eye on the Venusaur. If something feels off, leave immediately.” Zhou Zhiwen silently prayed for everything to go smoothly, hoping to bring the Bulbasaur back quickly. After hanging up, “Lord Venusaur, I’ve made the arrangements. As long as nothing goes wrong, the Bulbasaur should be back soon. So, could I ask you to calm the forest’s disturbance?” The Venusaur was pondering whether Zhou Zhiwen’s words were trustworthy. It recalled how the Alliance had beaten it up before. Now that it was old, if it got beaten again in front of the younger members of its clan, how could it maintain its dignity as the elder? Besides, it had these two people—one from the Alliance and the one who stole its grandchild—right under its nose, so they couldn’t escape. With that thought, the Venusaur nodded at Zhou Zhiwen. Zhou Zhiwen was delighted to see the nod. But just then, the Venusaur’s aura surged, and it let out a roar that echoed across most of the forest. After a while, everything remained the same as before. Zhou Zhiwen stared at the Venusaur in confusion, making it feel a bit embarrassed. A voice rang in Zhou Zhiwen’s mind: “Alright, I’ve passed down your request. The forest should calm down soon. But you must keep your promise. Until my grandchild returns, you two will stay with me.” Though frustrated, Zhou Zhiwen had no choice but to agree, hoping everything would work out. He didn’t know if the Venusaur was telling the truth. But now, he was at its mercy, so he had to obediently stay with it. Wang Jian, seeing Zhou Zhiwen dare not resist, dared even less to speak, only hoping to survive this crisis safely. About half an hour later, Zhou Zhiwen’s phone suddenly rang. He picked it up and saw it was the captain calling. He answered quickly. “Hello! Captain, this is Zhou Zhiwen.” “Okay, I understand. Everything’s safe here, right?” “I can’t leave for now, Captain. Please urge them to send that Bulbasaur as soon as possible.” “The situation here is fine, very quiet.” “Alright, that’s it.” Wang Jian listened to Zhou Zhiwen on the phone and gathered from his words that things outside had mostly settled down. After hanging up, Zhou Zhiwen let out a long sigh of relief, thinking that as long as no surprises occurred, this matter should be resolved. The Venusaur stayed quietly nearby, motionless, as if asleep. Wang Jian had nothing to do, so he released his injured Pokémon to treat them, hoping they could help if needed later. Especially the Pidgeot—if lucky, it might even carry him away.

As the sun slowly set and the last rays of light vanished from the sky, the forest was shrouded in a veil of stillness. The bright moonlight filtered through the dense foliage, casting mottled silver on the ground, like a layer of fine silver dust. Tree shadows swayed and danced on the ground, like mysterious dancers. In the grass, faint glimmers appeared—some glowing Pokémon moving about, emitting soft, gentle light like scattered stars in the forest. A gentle night breeze blew, rustling the leaves as if playing an ancient nocturne. Occasionally, one or two Pokémon cries could be heard, clear or deep, echoing in the silent night, adding a touch of ethereality. Deep in the forest, some strange plants looked even more eerie under the moonlight, their flowers blooming quietly, releasing peculiar scents. Hidden in the shadows, Pokémon with bright eyes watched their surroundings warily, ready to face any danger. The forest night was full of life and mystery, making one feel as if in a dreamlike world.

At this moment, Zhou Zhiwen grew anxious. So much time had passed, and night had fallen, yet no call had come. Why hadn’t the Bulbasaur been found yet? Just as Zhou Zhiwen’s mind wandered, in the silent night, the piercing ring of the phone stood out sharply. He quickly answered, his initially happy face shifting dramatically—from surprise to disappointment, then to anger. Wang Jian, watching Zhou Zhiwen’s vivid expressions, found it very strange. After hanging up, Zhou Zhiwen stared intently at Wang Jian, his gaze as if he wanted to kill him.
