Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Wonder of Turtwig

Wen Qi witnessed Bellossom's victory without much surprise. After all, Bellossom was higher in level than them, skilled in techniques, and its wild upbringing had given it rich combat experience. Without Wen Qi's guidance, they seemed to forget how to use many of their skills and didn't know how to cleverly dodge attacks. It looked like he'd need to arrange more battles for them in the future, letting them grow through practice. Although Bellossom held back during the fight, Venonat and Horsea still risked being defeated. However, Wen Qi had full confidence in his Turtwig. Even if it got hurt, he believed it could hold on. Yet, even if Turtwig endured, the battle held little meaning—the gap in strength between them and Bellossom was too vast, nearly impossible to overcome.

At that moment, the three little ones—Turtwig, Venonat, and Horsea—lay dejectedly on the ground, never expecting that their combined efforts would end in such a crushing defeat. Still, Wen Qi didn't blame them. He knew failure was a necessary step on the path to growth. They wouldn't be crushed by this; they were just feeling down for now. Watching Bellossom's valkyrie-like bearing, Wen Qi's heart swelled with joy. He hadn't expected Bellossom to be so powerful, and it filled him with anticipation for the adventures ahead. Bellossom was happy about its victory too, but seeing the three little ones sprawled on the ground, it held back from showing off too much. Noticing they were a bit injured, it used Grassy Terrain to heal them. Bathed in the grass's nourishing energy, their wounds gradually improved, and they felt too embarrassed to stay lying down. Wen Qi came over to comfort them before sending them off to train on their own. After this defeat, the three little ones would surely take their training more seriously, especially Turtwig.

Wen Qi watched their retreating figures, a wave of emotion washing over him. He knew that only through relentless effort and practice could they grow stronger. Seeing it was nearly noon, he realized the delivery people would arrive soon. He left the small world with Bellossom and waited for the goods. Before long, the delivery truck pulled up to the door. Several Machoke busied themselves unloading the cargo, while Wen Qi arranged for the items to be moved into the warehouse and villa. After a flurry of activity, the indoors were finally tidied up, furnished with all the appliances, making their future living convenient. Bellossom was curious about the new gadgets inside, especially the TV. It was captivated by the various interesting scenes playing on the screen. Wen Qi found Bellossom's curious expression amusing. He explained to it, "These appliances are the fruits of human ingenuity. We can get a lot of information and enjoyment from them. Don't worry, I'll teach you how to use them later." With that, he glanced at the sky, felt it was getting late, and told Bellossom to rest. He thanked Bellossom for its help today and said, "I'll be counting on you to protect me for a while." Bellossom responded happily, genuinely enjoying being with Wen Qi.

As night fell, Wen Qi lay in bed, reflecting on the day's events. He thought about Bellossom's strength, the three little ones' growth, and plans to improve the orchard. He knew the road ahead was long, but they would only get stronger. With that belief and hope, he gradually drifted off to sleep. The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtain gaps onto Wen Qi's bed, waking him from his dreams. He rubbed his eyes, yawned, and got up to start a new day. After a simple breakfast, Wen Qi decided to check on his farm's tree orchard first. This orchard, located behind the farm, was a lush grove of trees and fruit-bearing plants, carrying his hopes for the future. He put on old canvas shoes, donned a straw hat, brought Bellossom along, and set off down the path to the farm.

The moment he stepped into the orchard, Wen Qi's mood was mixed. The sight before him was disappointing: many fruit trees looked malnourished, with yellowing leaves and shriveled fruit. He recalled neglecting this orchard for years and felt a pang of guilt. He crouched down to closely examine each tree's condition. Some had exposed roots, clearly lacking soil and nutrients; others had tangled branches blocking sunlight, preventing proper photosynthesis. Wen Qi silently noted every issue, planning to study how to improve the orchard's state later. He walked over to a slightly healthier-looking tree and gently stroked its trunk. Though still undernourished, it was in better shape than the others. Wen Qi thought that with extra fertilization and pruning, this tree could regain its vitality. After circling the orchard, he had a preliminary improvement plan in mind. He intended to start with comprehensive fertilization and pruning, then devise specific management strategies based on each tree's condition. He believed that with effort and time, this orchard could burst with new life.

Thinking this, Wen Qi suddenly remembered Turtwig's amazing Grassy Terrain skill. He wondered if it could help with the fruit trees. So, he called Turtwig out of the small world and said to it, "Use Grassy Terrain on these trees." Turtwig slowly unleashed the wondrous Grassy Terrain skill. A gentle green energy surged from its body, spreading rapidly to cover an area. Under this nourishing power, the once ordinary land instantly brimmed with vitality. The grass grew greener, as if every blade held endless life force. The fruit trees felt the call of this energy, straightening their trunks as branches and leaves began to grow wildly. Before long, the once sparse canopies became lush, each leaf exuding a fresh aura. The whole tree seemed filled with vigor and energy. Wen Qi watched the scene, his heart full of joy and anticipation. However, he noticed Turtwig looked a bit tired after releasing the skill. He understood this was because Turtwig's strength was still low, unable to sustain such a skill for long. So, he let Turtwig rest and decided to step up its training to boost its power. Bellossom, seeing the tree's transformation, was amazed and curious. It tried using Grassy Terrain itself, but the effect wasn't as good as Turtwig's. Still, it was happy to be part of this change.

Wen Qi looked at the orchard and his Pokémon companions, feeling immense gratitude and hope. He knew that with their company and help, the future would be even more exciting and fulfilling. The sun climbed higher, and Wen Qi reluctantly left the orchard. His heart was filled with expectation and hope, looking forward to seeing this orchard flourish with lush branches and abundant fruit under his careful management. At the same time, he anticipated more adventures and challenges with his Pokémon, growing and improving together. Just as he was heading back, Bellossom suddenly sensed something wrong and immediately shielded Wen Qi behind it. Wen Qi warily scanned his surroundings, trying to identify the potential danger. He knew Bellossom's instincts were always sharp, and this time wouldn't be wrong. He gripped the Poké Ball in his hand, ready to respond to any crisis. Under Bellossom's protection, they moved forward cautiously, staying alert. Suddenly, two fierce Sandslash and a nimble Sandshrew emerged from the ground. However, Wen Qi noticed they didn't attack him directly, which made him think communication might resolve the issue. So, he decided to first try talking to the Sandslash to see if there was a misunderstanding or something to clarify.
