Wen Qi spent a good while communicating with the Poliwrath and the others, patiently building rapport with them. Afterward, he mounted his Gogoat and prepared to head back, as it was nearly noon and time to return for lunch.
With a swift dash, Gogoat carried Wen Qi back to the farm like a flash of lightning. By then, the well-behaved Bellossom had already meticulously prepared a hearty lunch. It was unclear whether Bellossom had unknowingly awakened some mysterious culinary soul, but lately, her cooking had become increasingly delicious. Not only did she handle household chores daily, but she also acted like Wen Qi’s devoted housekeeper, thoughtful and thorough.
The Turtwig and Sandslash family had also returned, looking visibly tired from working most of the day. Wen Qi quickly brought out the specially prepared energy cubes and distributed them one by one. Although they enjoyed these regularly, the irresistible taste of the energy cubes still left them craving more.
Wen Qi happily savored the delicacies Bellossom had crafted. After finishing his meal, he told Turtwig and the others to rest well while he opened the shop interface. To his surprise, he stumbled upon an unexpected treasure—a rare Grass Essence. Though it was expensive, costing ten thousand points, Wen Qi didn’t hesitate to buy it outright. He knew all too well how scarce Grass Essence was.
Not only could it help a Pokémon break through to the Champion level, but it could also significantly enhance the aptitude of Grass-type Pokémon. Wen Qi thought of his Turtwig. If he used the Grass Essence on it, combined with some aptitude-boosting energy cubes and the power of evolution, its aptitude might rise to the blue tier.
With that in mind, Wen Qi had no time for anything else that afternoon. He first assigned the Poliwag to the Horsea, letting it train alongside the latter. As for himself, he focused on crafting some high-grade perfect energy cubes for Turtwig’s use.
As for the poor Sandslash family, they once again headed to the orchard to work hard. But for Turtwig, Wen Qi had it enter the small world to continue its training, hoping it would evolve soon. Wen Qi was determined to nurture Turtwig as his ace, planning a unique artillery-style path for it.
This path aimed to fully enhance Turtwig’s defense, recovery speed, and attack power, turning it into an unbreakable battle fortress. On the defensive front, Wen Qi painstakingly selected a series of skills to boost Turtwig’s defensive attributes, along with training methods infused with the power of the earth. Through persistent training and gradual upgrades, Turtwig’s defensive capabilities rose steadily like bamboo shoots in spring, enough to withstand even the fiercest onslaughts from enemies.
In terms of recovery speed, Wen Qi focused on cultivating Turtwig’s powerful life-regeneration abilities. He constantly urged Turtwig to practice the Grassy Terrain skill, ensuring it could quickly restore HP during intense battles, like wild grass regrowing after a spring breeze, enabling sustained combat.
As for attack power, Wen Qi spared no effort in boosting Turtwig’s output. He arranged for Turtwig to learn some powerful offensive moves and also planned to look for equipment that could enhance its attack power in the future. This way, Turtwig could maintain strong defense while dealing impressive damage to enemies.
For the Venonat, Wen Qi still intended to push it to evolve quickly. Once it evolved into a Venomoth, he decided to chart a unique growth path for it—support and harassment. Venomoth, with its distinctive flying ability and keen perception, was undoubtedly well-suited for this role.
On this path, Venomoth would primarily rely on its agile movements and swift flying techniques to provide crucial support to teammates on the battlefield. It could use its flight advantage, dancing gracefully like a light fairy in the air, to unleash disruptive moves that threw the enemy’s formation into chaos, creating perfect offensive opportunities for its allies.
Additionally, Venomoth’s extraordinary perception and psychic abilities would be fully utilized. It could quickly detect every move of the enemy on the ever-changing battlefield, providing teammates with timely and accurate intelligence to help the team devise more effective tactics.
In the future, through relentless training and continuous improvement, Venomoth would gradually grow into an outstanding support and harassment specialist. Not only could it effectively disrupt enemies, but it could also provide solid support to teammates, becoming an indispensable core member of the team.
Wen Qi firmly believed that as long as he steadfastly pursued this path, Venomoth would surely shine brightly in future battles, bringing glory and victory to the team.
As for Horsea, Wen Qi also held high hopes for it, planning to nurture it as his main Water-type fighter. Horsea, this cute little Pokémon, possessed the purity and agility of the Water type, each movement seeming to whisper the mysterious tales of water. As time flowed gently, Horsea would evolve into the mighty Kingdra. Then, its type would become Water and Dragon, making it even stronger and filled with an alluring sense of mystery.
Kingdra’s robust form, with scales gleaming with cold light, would strike with the force of a roaring tornado, overwhelming and unstoppable. What was most eye-catching, however, was Kingdra’s unique Sniper ability. This trait allowed it to aim at the enemy’s weak points with precision, like a sharpshooter, delivering a fatal blow that left opponents helpless.
In the role of a Water-type main attacker, Kingdra would undoubtedly become an irreplaceable powerhouse.
Although Bellossom hadn’t been with Wen Qi for long, he could clearly sense that she wasn’t particularly interested in battles. Instead, Bellossom was enthusiastic about cooking and healing Pokémon. Wen Qi didn’t mind this; he didn’t force every Pokémon to be keen on fighting.
In the future, he could nurture Bellossom as a team medic and housekeeper. After all, Bellossom enjoyed doing chores, and with her Healer ability, she was quite adept at treatment. Though her healing skills couldn’t match those of a Chansey, Chansey was a Pokémon strictly regulated by the League. Unless one was a doctor or worked at a research institute, obtaining one was nearly impossible. Unless one could enter some mysterious secret realm, there might be a slim chance of finding one, but the probability was pitifully low.
As for the newly joined Sandshrew, Wen Qi hadn’t yet decided how to nurture it. However, he planned to ask Sandshrew about its own preferences later. If it wanted to battle, he could pair it with the yet-unborn Rhyhorn to form a ground-type duo—one for defense and one for offense. If it didn’t want to fight, given its decent aptitude, Wen Qi wouldn’t give up on nurturing it and could make it the farm’s overseer.
Although Gogoat was originally his parents’ Pokémon, it now belonged to Wen Qi. Currently, it was the strongest Pokémon he owned. He estimated that for at least the next six months, unless he caught an even stronger Pokémon, Gogoat would remain the most powerful. Though he hadn’t had it for long, Gogoat’s reliance on Wen Qi was no less than that of his other Pokémon.
Wen Qi planned to further enhance Gogoat’s strength, as it would undoubtedly serve as his mount in the future and bear the responsibility of protecting his safety. The main focus was to boost Gogoat’s stamina and speed, allowing it to run longer and faster. This way, if he ever encountered danger, he could rely on Gogoat to escape quickly.
The evolution of Poliwag left Wen Qi uncertain, torn between evolving it into Poliwrath or Politoed. If it evolved into Poliwrath, with evolution, a top-tier Water Stone, and some necessary resources, reaching blue-tier aptitude would likely be relatively easy. But if it evolved into Politoed, the evolution process combined with his nurturing would make it much harder to achieve blue-tier aptitude.
This tough decision left Wen Qi quite conflicted, as different evolution paths led to vastly different training directions. For Poliwrath, it would definitely lean toward an offensive role. For Politoed, it would likely need to be nurtured as a support. This headache-inducing choice would have to wait until he discussed it with Poliwag later.
