Chapter 7: Chapter 7: First Training

Time flew by, and soon it was the next morning. Wen Qi looked at the Turtwig sleeping peacefully beside him, his mind drifting back to the events of the previous night.

After returning from the mall yesterday, he and Turtwig had dinner together. Originally, he planned to let the little one rest in the small world. But tonight, this usually lively and adorable creature was unusually stubborn. It fixed its bright little eyes on Wen Qi, as if it had a thousand words to say.

Sensing something was off, Wen Qi crouched down and asked softly, “Little one, what’s wrong? Why won’t you go to sleep?”

Turtwig seemed to understand him. It slowly crawled over and gently scratched his pant leg with its tiny claws. Wen Qi’s heart stirred. He understood what Turtwig wanted. Smiling, he picked it up and said tenderly, “Alright, little one. Tonight, you’ll sleep with me.”

Turtwig seemed to grasp his meaning. Happily, it stretched out its little head and rubbed it gently against his cheek. And so, Turtwig and Wen Qi spent a warm night together. Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow over them. Everything felt serene and beautiful.

Today, Wen Qi decided not to go out. He would stay home to keep this adorable Turtwig company. After all, Turtwig was still young and needed more care and companionship. He believed that with the help of the small world, Turtwig would soon grow out of its infancy and enter a new stage of development.

Generally, the time it takes for a Pokémon to pass through its infancy varies by species. Most Pokémon need about a week, while Bug-type Pokémon only require two or three days. As for pseudo-legendary Pokémon, their slower growth means they need one to three months. For beginners, raising a pseudo-legendary is indeed a time-consuming and challenging task.

Still, Wen Qi was very satisfied with Turtwig’s growth rate. He estimated that in another day, Turtwig would smoothly pass through its infancy, reaching level six, and then training could begin. Thinking this, Wen Qi couldn’t help but open Turtwig’s information panel.

Pokémon: Turtwig Level: 3 Type: Grass Ability: Overgrow (Boosts Grass-type moves when HP is low) Talent: Deep Cyan Moves: Tackle (Beginner), Withdraw (Beginner), Absorb (Beginner), Root (Beginner), Growth (Beginner), Synthesis (Beginner), Razor Leaf (Beginner), Earth Power (Beginner Variant), Grassy Terrain (Beginner Variant)

Looking at Turtwig’s move list, Wen Qi’s heart swelled with joy. He believed that in the near future, this little one would surely become his reliable partner.

Over the next two days, Wen Qi stayed by Turtwig’s side, observing its growth. He noticed that Turtwig’s growth rate was indeed fast. In just two days, it had smoothly passed through its infancy and reached level six. This meant he could start planning a training regimen for Turtwig.

In the small world, Wen Qi said solemnly to Turtwig, “Little one, are you ready to start my training?”

Though Turtwig couldn’t fully understand his words yet, it nodded earnestly and let out a few “Turtwig, Turtwig” cries, filled with affirmation. Seeing Turtwig’s response, Wen Qi felt very pleased. He knew that future training would be tough, but he believed that as long as they worked together, Turtwig would grow stronger.

And so, Wen Qi began training Turtwig. First, he had Turtwig run a five-kilometer long-distance run to build its stamina and endurance. Though this was a daunting task for a Turtwig that had just left infancy, it persevered and finished. Watching Turtwig panting heavily after the run, Wen Qi knew it had tried its best.

After the run, Wen Qi guided Turtwig in move practice. He had Turtwig repeatedly use the moves it had already learned to improve their proficiency and power. Though Turtwig encountered many difficulties during practice, it always maintained a positive attitude, striving to overcome every challenge.

During breaks, Wen Qi specially prepared primary perfect energy cubes as rewards. These energy cubes, made using his system knowledge and skills, allowed Turtwig to absorb 100% of the energy. When Turtwig ate the energy cube, it chirped happily, as if saying, “Delicious!”

Since Turtwig could only eat primary energy cubes, and Wen Qi’s primary perfect cubes allowed full energy absorption, it quickly regained its energy. For context, a primary perfect energy cube on the market was worth no less than a high-grade ordinary cube. Generally, a common primary cube cost about fifty dollars, a good one about two hundred, and an excellent one about four hundred. But perfect-quality primary cubes were nearly impossible to buy, priced at over a thousand dollars. Intermediate and high-grade perfect cubes were even more expensive.

Wen Qi could make perfect-quality cubes thanks to his system knowledge and skills. However, he could only produce perfect high-grade cubes, which Turtwig couldn’t use yet. He also couldn’t sell these cubes in bulk, as being discovered would invite unnecessary trouble.

After Turtwig ate the cube and rested, Wen Qi said, “Little one, let me see how you use your moves. Use Earth Power.”

But after waiting a while, Wen Qi found that Turtwig couldn’t use the move at all. It seemed its level was still too low. Though the move was at beginner level, it was likely only learned with the help of a legendary Pokémon. Similarly, Grassy Terrain couldn’t be used either.

Seeing this, Wen Qi felt a bit disappointed, but he figured that at higher levels, these moves would become usable, so he let it go. Considering Turtwig was still young, Wen Qi decided to start with simpler moves. He said to Turtwig, “Use Root, then Growth, then Synthesis. Slowly cycle through these moves and feel the power of life.”

Though Turtwig wasn’t skilled at first, with the grass energy in the small world, it gradually found its rhythm. Using these moves, it felt very comfortable and joyful.

Wen Qi was heartened by Turtwig’s progress, knowing his efforts weren’t in vain. But he also knew that turning Turtwig into a true powerhouse would require more time and effort. So, he decided to continue training with Turtwig until it reached a higher level.

In the days that followed, Wen Qi and Turtwig shared many unforgettable moments. They explored the mysteries of the small world together, trained together, and shared the joy of success and the lessons of failure. Through this process, Turtwig gradually grew into a brave and powerful Pokémon, while Wen Qi became more mature and resilient.

Finally, under Wen Qi’s careful guidance, Turtwig mastered many advanced moves and displayed astonishing strength in various challenges. It became Wen Qi’s most capable assistant and his closest companion. And Wen Qi gained valuable experience and growth along the way. He learned how to communicate with Pokémon, how to plan training regimens, and how to adjust battle strategies. These experiences not only made him an excellent Pokémon trainer but also deepened his understanding of the Pokémon world’s mysteries and charm.

Time flew by, and a week passed quietly. To avoid arousing suspicion, Wen Qi deliberately took Turtwig for walks in the park and on the streets, letting others see its growth. When Wen Qi opened Turtwig’s information panel again, what he saw filled him with delight.

Pokémon: Turtwig Level: 10 Type: Grass Ability: Overgrow (Boosts Grass-type moves when HP is low) Talent: Deep Cyan Moves: Tackle (Beginner), Withdraw (Beginner), Absorb (Proficient), Root (Proficient), Growth (Proficient), Synthesis (Proficient), Razor Leaf (Proficient), Energy Ball (Beginner), Earth Power (Beginner Variant), Grassy Terrain (Beginner Variant)

Its level had risen to ten, and the moves it often practiced had reached proficient. It had even learned Energy Ball. All this was thanks to Turtwig’s hard training. (Move levels are divided into Beginner, Proficient, Expert, and Perfect. Beginner allows about 50% of a move’s power, Proficient 80%, Expert 100%, and Perfect 120%, typically achievable only by Champion-level Pokémon or higher.)
