Early in the morning, Yang Yi was baffled by Xixi. After waking up, the little girl was particularly grumpy, tightly clinging to her father's neck and crying, utterly heartbroken. "What's wrong? Tell Daddy, why are you crying?" Yang Yi coaxed her with a headache, utterly confused.
After a while, Xixi sobbed, pouting pitifully in her father's arms, "My, my Xiaoguai is gone."
Xiaoguai is gone? When did that happen?
Yang Yi remembered that after his morning workout, he had soaked some cat food and fed the kittens on the balcony, calling out to them, and they had all come running from every corner!
"How could they be gone? Aren't they fine at home?" Yang Yi asked.
"I saw, I saw, I saw Xiaoguai leave in a car," the little girl said, her eyes brimming with tears, her mouth pursed.
Yang Yi understood. He smiled and gently rubbed his daughter's head, saying, "That's because you were dreaming! Come on, you're awake now. Daddy will take you to see the kittens."
In the living room, Yang Yi smiled and gently took Xixi's little hand, pointing in a direction. "Come on, Xixi, look, aren't the kittens playing over there?"
The big gray cat had climbed to the top of the cat tree, reaching out to bat at a hanging plush ball, while Duoduo, with its gentle nature, lay on the middle level, squinting its eyes, unmoved.
Xixi opened her slightly swollen big eyes, stared for a moment, and then grew upset again, "My Xiaoguai isn't there, it's gone."
Seeing tears welling up in his daughter's big eyes again, Yang Yi quickly said, "No way, Xiaoguai must be at home. Come on, Daddy will find it for you!"
In the past few days, Yang Yi had bought books on cat care and learned about their habits, so he searched in all the little corners. Before long, he found it.
"Xixi, come here, look, Xiaoguai is here!" Yang Yi knelt on one knee, smiling and waving at Xixi.
The little girl was overjoyed, quickly wiping her tears and running over. Sure enough, she saw the kitten squeezed into a small gap between the sofa armrests, its shiny eyes watching from the shadows!
"Xiaoguai, Xiaoguai, come out quickly, you scared your big sister to death!" Xixi called out, pouting.
True to Xixi's nature, having spent more time playing with the kittens, Xiaoguai came out as soon as it saw her.
Luckily, Yang Yi usually cleaned every nook and cranny at home, so the kitten wasn't covered in dust. Otherwise, he would never have let Xixi pick it up.
Watching Xixi happily hold Xiaoguai, as if she had accomplished some great feat, Yang Yi couldn't help but smile.
...
At Tianmei Entertainment, it was time for the weekly meeting. Unless they were tied up, almost all agents, along with some artists without gigs, returned to the company to attend.
Mo Xiaojuan was in Mo Fei's office, helping her style her hair. "You need to look stunning today, make a grand entrance, and blind their dog eyes!"
Hmph, thinking back to how those people called Mo Fei an old woman, Mo Xiaojuan was still furious. Of course, she wouldn't mention these unpleasant things to Mo Fei.
But Mo Fei seemed distracted. Once Mo Xiaojuan finished, she immediately picked up her phone, eagerly opening the text message that had just chimed.
Actually, it was a multimedia message!
Mo Xiaojuan noticed and pouted in annoyance. She felt like she was being force-fed dog food every day. "Did brother-in-law send you something again? This time, a comic? Or a love letter?"
She didn't need to ask; seeing Mo Fei cover her mouth and smile happily, Mo Xiaojuan knew it was a comic!
Yesterday, Yang Yi had sent a comic. Mo Xiaojuan had seen it—a little figure holding a crab, with the crab's claws shaped like hearts.
The art style was crude, nothing special.
But paired with Yang Yi's handwritten line below, "Saying 'thank you' is shaped like love for you," Mo Xiaojuan found it so cheesy it gave her goosebumps.
This kind of meme-style comic was something no one in this world had seen before, so it felt fresh. Of course, such a direct expression was also quite surprising.
What would it be today?
Mo Xiaojuan initially wanted to refuse the dog food but couldn't help leaning in to look. Mo Fei happily shared it with her.
On the screen was the same ugly little figure, this time with two dots for nostrils, making it even uglier! But beside the figure's head were heart shapes of various sizes, painted in pink.
"Every day, I breathe the air of loving you!" Mo Xiaojuan read the elegant pen-written line below and couldn't help mimicking a Northeastern accent, "Oh my god, this guy, why won't he stop!"
Mo Fei covered her mouth and giggled.
Mo Xiaojuan puffed out her cheeks, shoved the phone back to Mo Fei, and said grumpily, "I'm not looking anymore, never again! You two just keep flaunting your love, it's ridiculous, you're making me sick!"
Mo Fei chuckled softly, not responding to avoid provoking her single cousin.
But she loved it. Yang Yi had been sending her things lately, and she kept them all, often sneaking a look to feel energized for the day!
[Mo Xiaojuan: What else can I do? Stuck with this cousin, force-fed dog food every day, I'm so hopeless!]
"Ding-dong!" Just then, Mo Xiaojuan's phone buzzed with a text.
Of course, no man would send her sweet messages; it was almost always work-related. So Mo Xiaojuan instinctively picked up her phone and glanced at it.
It was an unfamiliar number.
But the content of the message startled her: "I'm Mu Ziang. Open the email below and check my new message."
Mu Ziang texted her?
How did Mu Ziang get her number?
Oh, right, it was in the signature of her old emails.
But why would Mu Ziang suddenly ask her to check an email? And give her a new email address and password?
Mo Xiaojuan's forehead was full of question marks.
"Xiaojuan, are you ready? We need to head to the meeting," Mo Fei said, checking the time.
But Mo Xiaojuan sat down at the computer, bending over to turn it on.
"Why are you turning on the computer?" Mo Fei was confused.
While waiting for it to boot up, Mo Xiaojuan said impatiently, "Sis, why are you in such a hurry? Every time, you're the first to arrive at the meeting. Does that look like a top star? A top star makes everyone wait for her, puts on airs!"
Mo Fei shook her head, saying, "No, I don't like making others wait for me. And why would a top star need to put on airs? If that's the case, I'd rather not be one!"
Mo Xiaojuan rolled her eyes, completely unable to reason with her stubborn cousin.
