Chapter 16: Chapter 16: The Restroom

With a loud crash, the giant frog pounced onto the sofa. Su Li’s arms trembled violently as he failed to withstand the impact, sent flying once again, while the sofa tumbled and slammed into the wall with a deafening noise.

Su Li scrambled to his feet and turned to flee toward the other side of the living room.

This monster wasn’t just fast and strong—its tongue could strike like a whip. After two direct confrontations with it, Su Li realized he was no match. If he kept fighting head-on, he’d only end up dead. His only option was to run.

The giant frog smashed through the sofa, kicked its limbs, and lunged at Su Li. Su Li spun around and dashed into the bathroom.

The giant frog was only a step behind, reaching the bathroom entrance. It opened its massive mouth, and its blood-red tongue shot out like an arrow once again.

By the bathroom entrance stood a sink and mirror, followed by a toilet, and at the far end, a shower. The room was rectangular—long but narrow. Su Li had chosen to run in here because he knew the giant frog’s bulky body would be severely restricted in such tight quarters.

From the way it had relentlessly rammed the security door, even at the cost of bloodying its head, Su Li could tell this monster was stubborn and single-minded. Even knowing the narrow bathroom would heavily limit its movements, it squeezed in without hesitation.

Its flat body was immediately pressed between the walls as it entered. It opened its gaping maw, trying to strike Su Li with its tongue.

Su Li had already reached the small window at the far end of the bathroom. He grabbed the coffee table that had been propped upright against the window, mustered all his strength, lifted it, and hurled it at the giant frog.

The giant frog had wedged its entire body inside. Though its soft frame wasn’t completely stuck between the narrow walls, its movement was severely hampered. Its tongue struck the coffee table Su Li threw, shattering the glass surface into a spiderweb of cracks. Then, with a loud crack, the table crashed down onto the giant frog’s head.

The coffee table broke apart into pieces. The giant frog was slammed heavily to the ground, enraged. It gathered its strength, pushed off with its limbs, and leaped up to tackle Su Li.

But because it was squeezed between the tiled walls, its jump was slow.

The bathroom was so cramped that Su Li had already backed up nearly against the window, leaving no room to dodge. He couldn’t avoid the attack and was hit squarely.

The impact crushed Su Li’s chest, leaving him breathless as if a heavy weight had rolled over him. He nearly coughed up blood, but inwardly he counted himself lucky.

Because the giant frog was stuck, its speed was reduced, and the force of its charge couldn’t fully manifest. Otherwise, with its strength, a full-on collision might have shattered every bone in his body.

Even as he was hit, Su Li didn’t stay idle. He had lost the hammer but still carried the cleaver. He switched the cleaver from his left hand to his right, gripped it tightly, and seized this rare opportunity to swing it down.

A spray of fluid burst out. The giant frog suddenly opened its massive mouth, letting out a shrill, agonized croak. Its body convulsed violently as it thrashed in a frenzy.

Su Li’s strike had used all his strength, landing squarely on the giant frog’s single enormous eye. The cleaver sank deep, nearly splitting the massive eyeball in two.

Blinded by the devastating blow, the giant frog panicked. It went berserk, thrashing wildly and snapping its gaping maw at Su Li.

The cramped bathroom restricted the giant frog, but it also trapped Su Li.

Su Li cursed his luck. Pinned at the far end of the bathroom with no room to evade, he had no choice but to fight desperately. He pressed his left hand against the giant frog’s lower jaw, pushing upward with all his might, while his right hand swung the cleaver wildly into the frog’s belly.

Both were fighting for their lives. The giant frog’s strength was originally far greater than Su Li’s, but being wedged between the walls kept it from fully unleashing it. Su Li, unhindered, hacked away at the frog’s abdomen. Soon, he sliced it open, and more and more blood spilled out, staining the bathroom tiles red.

The giant frog’s attack methods were limited—mainly charging, biting, and its tongue. Now, stuck between the walls, charging was useless. Su Li had crawled beneath it, using his left hand to push up its jaw, preventing it from biting or using its tongue. Meanwhile, he could swing the cleaver without restraint.

If not for the narrow bathroom, the giant frog could have easily shifted its body, and Su Li would never have been able to hold its jaw. But trapped here, blinded, and driven by fear and madness, it didn’t know where to move. Its only instinct was to lunge forward and bite its enemy, pressing itself tighter and tighter until it left its vital areas completely exposed to Su Li, allowing him to hack freely at its belly.

As he kept chopping, Su Li soon felt the giant frog’s struggles grow weaker. Eventually, it stopped moving altogether.

Seeing its hind legs stretch out and go still, Su Li ceased his assault. He panted heavily, feeling utterly drained. He leaned against the wall and slowly slid to the floor.

Blood covered the ground. The giant frog no longer moved, but its body remained wedged in midair, not falling.

Su Li sat beneath its belly, snapping out of his near-frenzied state. The air reeked of blood. He saw that the frog’s abdomen was nearly completely shredded, its内脏 spilling out.

Suddenly, he noticed a white, fuzzy ball fly out from the giant frog’s mangled belly, striking him right between the eyes. Then, a message surged into his mind.

“Level 1 Spirit Source User: Spirit Source 8/10”

Su Li’s heart stirred. Killing one giant frog had granted him two Spirit Sources at once.

At the same time, a wave of heat surged through him. A powerful warmth enveloped his entire body, coursing through his limbs and bones. The burning pain in his right shoulder began to fade as the wound healed. New strength welled up in his nearly exhausted body.

Su Li’s spirits lifted. He grabbed the wall, slowly stood up, and pushed against the giant frog’s corpse stuck in the middle. Just as he was about to shove it out of the bathroom, he noticed the massive eye on the frog’s head rapidly withering away.
