Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Talent

"Squeak—squeak—" The Tyrant Crab let out a piercing shriek, its body tilting as two legs on one side snapped off. It lost its earlier agility, and its movement speed was noticeably hindered.

The Tyrant Crab seemed furious, shifting its body and raising its massive pincers as it charged toward Su Li.

Su Li didn't get greedy, nor did he let his guard down just because the Tyrant Crab had lost two legs. He remained fully alert, mentally calculating the distance.

As the Tyrant Crab was about to reach him, he instantly sidestepped horizontally, trying to stay as far as possible from those devastating pincers. The iron rod in his hand swung out again, targeting the legs on the Tyrant Crab's side once more.

This time, the Tyrant Crab quickly rotated its body by ninety degrees, extending its pincers.

With a sharp *clang*, Su Li's iron rod struck the extended pincer. The Tyrant Crab swung its pincer, and a tremendous force sent the iron rod flying back. The impact was so strong that Su Li's right arm trembled, and his five fingers went numb, unable to hold onto the rod.

Su Li didn't fight it. He let go, allowing the iron rod to be flung backward by the pincer's swing. Seizing the opportunity, he closed in on the Tyrant Crab, clenched his left fist, and extended the four "Glutton's Fangs," striking with full force at the joint of a slender leg on the crab's side.

The joint of the Tyrant Crab's slender leg was made of a tendon-like structure. The "Glutton's Fangs" sliced into it, severing the tendon instantly.

Su Li didn't linger. After landing the hit, he quickly retreated, dashing toward where the iron rod had flown to retrieve it.

The Tyrant Crab kept squeaking shrilly, another leg crippled, growing even more agitated. Originally, it had four legs on each side, but now one side had only two left, and the other side had three. Its remaining five functional legs scraped against the ground, making its body wobble unsteadily, looking bizarre.

But instead of charging at Su Li again, it swayed toward the edge of the rooftop.

It had finally realized something was wrong and wanted to escape.

Su Li had just picked up the iron rod. Seeing the Tyrant Crab trying to flee, he sprinted after it.

After all the effort to cripple three of its legs, and with it on the verge of being taken down, how could he let it get away?

With three legs disabled, the Tyrant Crab's movement slowed. Su Li quickly caught up, intercepting it before it could escape. This time, he couldn't retreat. He had to take the initiative, swinging the iron rod down at the Tyrant Crab.

The Tyrant Crab's pincers clamped toward him. It was a raw clash of strength, no tricks involved. The muscles on Su Li's arms bulged slightly as he poured all his power into the strike.

With another *clang*, the sound of metal striking metal rang out. Su Li felt his arms go numb, his hands nearly losing sensation from the recoil.

He already possessed strength of a thousand jin, but even so, going head-to-head with the Tyrant Crab's pincers didn't give him any advantage. However, the crab couldn't completely overpower him either—it only blocked his iron rod. One of its pincers reached down, aiming to clamp onto his body.

But Su Li was faster. The moment the iron rod struck the pincer, he was already prepared. He lunged diagonally, and the "Glutton's Fangs" on his left hand sliced through the joint of another slender leg, severing the tendon that connected it.

The Tyrant Crab's fourth leg was cut off. With only four legs left functional, its body lurched, tilting awkwardly as it struggled to stay balanced.

Su Li kept moving, circling around to its back. He swung the iron rod in his right hand, and with a sharp *crack*, broke another leg.

The Tyrant Crab sensed the danger and thrashed wildly, its pincers flailing in all directions. But its massive body stayed rooted in place, barely able to move.

The three remaining slender legs couldn't support the Tyrant Crab's enormous frame.

On the other side, Xu Xuehui nervously guarded the fallen Ding Longyun. Ding Longyun shook his head, coming out of the brief daze. As he tried to sit up, a sharp pain in his chest made him gasp. He knew his ribs were broken.

"Damn it..." Ding Longyun muttered, annoyed that he hadn't listened to Su Li earlier. Looking up, he saw Su Li fighting the Tyrant Crab alone, moving nimbly around it, striking with precision and breaking its legs one by one. As more legs were crippled, the crab grew clumsier, and Su Li's task became easier.

"This guy... he's got talent..." Ding Longyun watched, murmuring to himself. He suddenly felt that Su Li had a natural knack for battling monsters.

"Damn it, if I hadn't been careless, I could've taken down this stupid crab by myself." Ding Longyun clenched his fist in frustration. Then, as if remembering something, he looked up and said, "Kid, thanks for earlier. Otherwise, I'd be dead."

Though his mind had been foggy, he was still aware of what happened. His body just wouldn't obey. When the Tyrant Crab charged, he'd felt hopeless, never expecting Xu Xuehui to rush over and drag him away in the nick of time. Otherwise, he'd have been done for.

Xu Xuehui heard Ding Longyun's thanks and blinked her beautiful eyes. Then, she held out her left hand to him.

As Ding Longyun looked on in confusion, she opened her small hand to reveal a handful of sunflower seeds in her palm.

"Want some?" Xu Xuehui asked seriously.

Ding Longyun didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Now of all times, who had the mood for sunflower seeds? This girl's mind really worked differently.

Agitated by his injury, Ding Longyun winced in pain before forcing out, "No, you go ahead."

"Oh." Xu Xuehui pulled her hand back, took a seed, and popped it into her mouth. She watched Su Li's fight with the Tyrant Crab while slowly chewing.

In a short time, Su Li had crippled five of the Tyrant Crab's eight legs, leaving only three. Movement became extremely difficult for it. Su Li knew the moment had finally come.

The Tyrant Crab seemed to sense its fate, wildly swinging its pincers in self-defense while its remaining three legs desperately pushed against the ground, trying to crawl toward the rooftop's edge.

Though it could barely move, those pincers were terrifying. Su Li attacked three times in a row, but each time the iron rod was blocked and knocked back. Once, a pincer even reached out, nearly catching him.

"This thing is tough. Even if I break all its legs, as long as those big claws are still there, killing it won't be easy," Su Li mused.

He circled to its side again, swung the iron rod, and broke another leg.

With only two legs left, the Tyrant Crab was almost completely immobile. It stayed in place, frantically waving its pincers, preventing Su Li from getting close enough to attack its soft underbelly.
