Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The War of Races

Humans are carbon-based lifeforms; all biological macromolecules in the human body contain carbon. Silicon and carbon are in the same row on the periodic table, sharing similar properties. In silicon-based life, silicon atoms replace carbon atoms in the macromolecules, making their bodies hundreds of times harder than carbon-based life, with lifespans stretching at least a thousand years. Such an inhuman race cannot be approached with conventional martial arts logic. Weaknesses that would be fatal to humans are utterly useless against this silicon giant.

No matter how hard Feng Lin's fists are, they're still made of flesh and blood, while the silicon-based lifeform's body hardness surpasses most human alloys. Trying to punch it to pieces with bare fists is like smashing a rock with tofu—suicide! After clearing twenty floors, this was the first time Feng Lin had encountered someone tougher than him, and by such a margin. The opponent was like a stubborn, hard rock, leaving him with no opening to exploit. Moreover, the silicon giant seemed to possess a strange power to manipulate rock, hurling boulders down in a dense rain of stone.

Whether in close combat or ranged attacks, Feng Lin was completely suppressed, facing a dead end for the first time. Yet he didn't slow down, charging forward relentlessly.

"What's he doing? Trying to get himself killed?" "The silicon giant's body is like an alloy; pure fists and feet are useless against it! This is a life-level crushing that no martial art can overcome." "He's probably given up! There's no chance of winning anyway..."

The homeroom teachers didn't hold back, pointing and sneering, convinced Feng Lin was courting death. The female teacher beside them gritted her teeth in anger but couldn't find words to refute—because she thought the same...

Feng Lin, of course, was unaware of their mockery, and even if he knew, he wouldn't care. Indeed, charging head-on at a silicon-based lifeform seemed suicidal. But he had no choice. His awakened genes were ape and stone fetus, not flame, water, or whirlwind—he had no ranged combat abilities. If he kept dodging, he'd be on the defensive forever, with no chance to win. To win, he had to charge and gamble. Only by daring to fight could he prevail!

And Feng Lin knew one thing clearly: this virtual martial arts tower was just a simulated battle, essentially like a game level. Since it was a level, there had to be a way to clear it. This was the twentieth floor, with a life force index of 2.0, meaning that with a 2.0 life force, victory was possible. He only had 1.9, but that didn't mean he had no chance! The key was finding that opportunity to turn the tide.

Boulders rolled down with a crash. Feng Lin pushed his speed to the limit, dodging nimbly, finding gaps, and closing in rapidly. Bang, bang, bang! His fists rained down like a storm, hammering the opponent. But his fingers ached fiercely—he hadn't hurt the enemy, only himself. This was life-form suppression. Though the opponent's life force was compressed to 2.0, its body far surpassed Feng Lin's. Even with his stone fetus gene, it wasn't enough. Such an opponent was despair-inducing.

There had to be a turning point! Feng Lin didn't give up, searching for an opening, but he had to endure first. Diamond Subduing Demon Fist was the only gene martial art he'd learned, and his only hope to crack the silicon giant's shell. He formed claws with his hands, lunging for the opponent's seemingly soft throat, but the moment he touched it, it felt like grabbing a rock—his fingers screamed in pain. The silicon giant sneered, striking out like twin venomous dragons, sending Feng Lin flying.

He crashed hard to the ground but scrambled up, his palms taking on a stony sheen. Great Strength Diamond Fist! His palm wind cut like a blade, energy radiating. The silicon giant's eyes were full of disdain as it stood motionless. The palm wind struck it without even ruffling a hair. It casually threw a punch back. Crack. Feng Lin crossed his arms over his chest to block, and his bones emitted a splintering sound. Diamond Dragon Claw Hand! Ignoring the pain, he pressed on, unleashing another killing move from the Diamond Subduing Demon Fist, but it was just as futile.

The silicon giant stood still like a towering tree, casting an immense shadow that swallowed Feng Lin. Its cold gaze watched him charge again and again, like an ant foolishly trying to shake a tree, seeing no hope. Falling and rising repeatedly, Feng Lin charged like a madman, drenched in blood and covered in wounds, paying no heed. Though the virtual system simulated attacks, the repeated impact force left him battered and bruised. But he never gave up, staring fixedly at the opponent like a wolf eyeing a tiger—though far weaker, he'd fight to tear off a piece of flesh. The ferocity in his eyes was chilling.

The homeroom teachers whispered among themselves. "He still won't give up? It's just a trial—does he have to go this hard?" "His only gene martial art is the Diamond Subduing Demon Fist, a low-level beginner technique with just a few moves, limited power, and he just learned it—what good is it?" "Just surrender! This is a waste of time, damaging his own body!" They muttered endlessly.

But they missed the growing admiration in the principal's eyes at the front. Such a determined gaze, a wolf-like ruthlessness in his character—this kid was truly remarkable! Maybe they were all right, but Feng Lin would never give up! Going head-to-head with the silicon giant was practically playing with his life. Did he not realize that himself? This battle was indeed practice, but because the opponent was an alien race, it took on a different nature. This was a race war. In a race war, it's fight to the death—either you die, or I do! The universe is vast, yet small.

Feng Lin believed he wouldn't be trapped on this tiny Earth forever. Once he stepped into the stars, he'd inevitably encounter these aliens, and it would be a fight to the death. Losing now meant a chance to try again, but what about later? That would cost him his life! So he'd better learn from now on not to give up, not to lose, and not to be allowed to lose. It wasn't about victory or defeat, but about conviction. Though he looked battered, a smile crept onto his lips. Because he'd found a way to win. His actions seemed reckless, but they were only to confirm a thought he'd already had. What was a guess before was now fully verified. To beat the opponent, there was only one way: turn their own methods against them!
