Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Answering Fluently

Clap, clap, clap!

A burst of enthusiastic applause.

"Not bad, not bad!"

"Until now, no other interviewee has been able to explain the essence of gene potions as thoroughly as you have!"

"It seems you have a deep understanding of gene theory!"

...

After Feng Lin finished speaking, the interviewers applauded one after another, their faces filled with admiration.

Three consecutive questions, none of them simple, had been answered so effortlessly, and the answers were perfect.

This Feng Lin was anything but ordinary!

Moving from left to right, it was the fourth interviewer's turn. He posed another challenging question: "Since there's such a thing as spirit particle movement, why can a few types of gene potions, like life potions, be synthesized mechanically?"

This question was a bit tough; he had never seen it before.

Feng Lin furrowed his brow.

Indeed!

Since life potions were also a type of gene potion, he had personally experienced the massive changes to his body when he took one before—it was the spirit particles at work.

Why could a few gene potions, like life potions, be manufactured mechanically?

This didn't align with spirit particle Brownian motion!

Feng Lin frowned, deep in thought.

The interviewers didn't press him, quietly waiting for him to think.

Clearly, they knew this question wasn't easy and required profound expertise in gene potions.

Feng Lin's mind raced like a machine running at full capacity.

These potions could be made mechanically—it had to be related to the formula. What commonality did their formulas share?

Suddenly, something clicked, and his eyes lit up. "That's it! Spirit sand!"

The interviewers exchanged glances, their eyes showing appreciation and admiration, and couldn't help asking, "Why spirit sand?"

"Spirit sand is an inert substance that can contain spirit particles. Although it can hold them, its material surface naturally has a faint insulating layer that suppresses spirit particle movement. Each spirit particle is like being trapped in a tiny, miniature cage. As spirit sand dissolves into the potion, it ensures the most even distribution of spirit particles, maintaining the potion's stability. So, without exception, any potion with spirit sand as an ingredient can be synthesized mechanically!" Feng Lin explained.

"Not bad, not bad!" The interviewers nodded in agreement.

The last interviewer then asked, "Then do you know why spirit sand, despite its insulating properties for spirit particles, isn't used in other potions?"

This time, Feng Lin didn't hesitate and answered concisely: "Because although spirit sand has this unique use, its spirit particle content is far too low. It's only suitable for ungraded gene potions, not for formulating high-end ones!"

At this point, all five interviewers had asked their five questions, and all had been answered.

Feng Lin responded fluently, as if giving standard answers.

The five examiners all smiled and nodded, clearly very satisfied with Feng Lin's performance.

"Excellent! Excellent! Your knowledge of gene theory is very solid. Now we'll ask you some mythology questions!" said the lead interviewer in the center.

Feng Lin smiled lightly. This was what he feared least!

"I'll start. In the 'Celestial Hierarchy,' what are the ranks of angels?" asked the leftmost interviewer again.

Feng Lin thought briefly and replied, "They are the upper three: Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones; the middle three: Dominions, Virtues, and Powers; the lower three: Principalities, Archangels, and Angels."

"You got that right!" The interviewer who asked the question was full of praise. "As far as I'm concerned, you've passed!"

Feng Lin nodded with a smile.

The second from the left then asked another question about the Bible: "What are the seven princes of Hell, and what sins do they represent?"

The seven princes of Hell and the seven angels of Heaven correspond one-to-one. Anyone who has read the Bible would know that.

Feng Lin carefully recalled the memories in his mind and answered directly, "They are Lucifer, the sin of pride; Leviathan, the sin of envy; Samael, the sin of wrath; Belial, the sin of sloth; Mammon, the sin of greed; Beelzebub, the sin of gluttony; and Asmodeus, the sin of lust!"

After finishing, he secretly wiped a bead of sweat.

Fortunately, he had been very interested in mythology during the ancient Earth era and had studied various mythological systems and derivative novels from different countries; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to answer.

"Why did God expel Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden?" the lead interviewer asked again.

"Because they ate the forbidden fruit!" Feng Lin said with a slight smile.

"Impressive! Most of the Bible has been lost, and the stories are scattered in fragments, yet you can still answer that!" The lead interviewer nodded, greatly appreciating Feng Lin.

They fired off questions one after another, only to find they couldn't stump Feng Lin, so they began discussing among themselves.

Feng Lin sat patiently, waiting.

After about five or six minutes, they reached a conclusion.

"It seems the Bible can't stump you. Let me ask you another mythology question. Listen carefully!" said a white-bearded old man with a tall turban on his head, his body thin as a rake, smiling. "Hinduism has three major gods. What divine powers do they represent?"

"This is easy!" Feng Lin said with a relaxed expression.

The major gods of any pantheon are usually the most well-known; anyone with a bit of knowledge about that mythology could answer.

"Hinduism has three major gods: Brahma, the god of creation; Shiva, the god of destruction; and Vishnu, the god of preservation. These three major gods are a trinity, sharing the same origin, also known as the Trimurti, the cosmic manifestations of Brahman!"

"I'm done with my questions. Now it's up to you to see if you can stump him!" The white-bearded old man nodded with a smile, turning to the last interviewer.

"Don't worry! My question won't be easy to answer!" The fifth interviewer said confidently. "This is a little-known mythological system!"

Feng Lin remained very calm, not intimidated by this.

"What deity is 'Hura Maz' from in mythology? And what authority does it hold?" the interviewer asked with a smile.

A very unfamiliar deity name.

Feng Lin immediately frowned.

Norse mythology? No!

Mayan mythology? No!

Japanese mythology? Even more off the mark.

...

Feng Lin recalled the stories and legends of various mythological systems from ancient Earth, certain he had never heard that name.

"I told you! He can't answer it!" Seeing Feng Lin frowning and struggling for a long time without an answer, the interviewer smiled at the others, a look of smugness on his face.

The other interviewers also fixed their gazes on him, wanting to see if Feng Lin truly had deep expertise in all kinds of mythology.

Feng Lin didn't give up.

Because he was sure that when it came to knowledge of mythology, no one among these interstellar humans could surpass him. If he couldn't answer, no one could.

There is, there must be.

I definitely know that name from some mythological story.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Feng Lin, like a meteor streaking across his mind, and he blurted out.

"I know. That deity isn't called Hura Maz at all, but Ahura Mazda! He is the supreme god of Persian Zoroastrianism!"
