Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Have We Met Before

? Having arranged everything, Su Banxia finally breathed a sigh of relief and went to open the door.

When she opened it, Pei Shaoze’s ambiguous gaze made the heart she had just settled rise again.

“President Pei, how did you find this place?”

Ignoring her question, Pei Shaoze raised an eyebrow. “What, not going to invite me in for a seat?”

Flustered, Su Banxia made a ‘please’ gesture.

Sitting on the sofa, Pei Shaoze held the tea she had just brewed and spoke leisurely, “Is there a child in your home besides you? I heard a child’s voice outside just now.”

This question made Su Banxia’s cold sweat nearly break out. She stammered in reply, “No! It’s just me alone.”

“Hmph.”

Glancing at the toy by the sofa, Pei Shaoze didn’t press further. He simply blew lightly on the tea leaves in his cup and took a sip of the clear brew. “I was passing by your place and remembered I didn’t have your number, so I came up to let you know—the company system is fixed. Come to work this afternoon.”

In truth, Pei Shaoze had come because the company’s tech team had traced the hacker’s ID, and he immediately noticed it was in Su Banxia’s neighborhood. That’s why he came to check if it was really her.

Su Banxia murmured an “Mm,” and sat nervously on the nearby sofa. The acne on her face had almost completely healed, and her delicate features gave Pei Shaoze a sense of déjà vu.

A vague face flashed through his mind. Pei Shaoze straightened his back and asked, “Su Banxia, have we met before?”

Su Banxia’s body stiffened, and she quickly denied it. “No, we haven’t met. How could that be possible!”

Her reaction only confirmed Pei Shaoze’s suspicion. He let out a soft laugh. “Is that so? But I remember that night was quite enjoyable! Afterward, you even gave me two hundred bucks!”

At the mention of the two hundred bucks, Pei Shaoze almost gritted his teeth.

Jaw set, Su Banxia stubbornly refused to admit it.

“Since you won’t admit it, let me test it and see if you’re that person. After all, that body has left me reminiscing for a long time…”

Pei Shaoze made a move to stand up, set down his cup, and stepped closer to Su Banxia.

The scent of male hormones rushed straight into Su Banxia’s nose. Thinking of the two little ones in the room, she feared this man might do something to her. “I admit it, it was me. If there’s something to discuss, let’s talk outside!”

Pei Shaoze stopped in his tracks, a sly smile on his face. “Why talk outside? Don’t you want the third person in this room to hear?”

“What third person? I don’t understand!”

She frowned, trying to stay calm, but her occasional furtive glances toward the bedroom didn’t escape Pei Shaoze’s notice.

This only made Pei Shaoze more certain that there had indeed been a child talking to her, and that child was likely in the bedroom.

Pei Shaoze was a man of action. Once suspicious, he naturally sought to verify. His gaze fell on the bedroom door, and he spoke, “Is there someone in the bedroom?”

Though phrased as a question, it was a statement of certainty.

As he spoke, he took a few quick strides forward, raised his hand, and opened the door.

Almost simultaneously, Su Banxia rushed to the bedroom entrance, blocking him, and forced a smile. “President Pei, this is my bedroom. You don’t seem like the type to casually invade someone’s privacy.”

Despite his curiosity, good manners made Pei Shaoze stop. They stood facing each other, his dark eyes narrowing as he looked down at her. “You seem very nervous?”

Nervous wasn’t the word—she was about to die from anxiety. Forcing a smile, she said, “With President Pei gracing me with your presence, a little secretary like me is naturally nervous.”

“Hah…”

Pei Shaoze didn’t believe that for a second. His dark eyes swept over the bedroom door, and he gave a playful smile, his tall frame slowly leaning toward her. “Su Banxia, you just admitted we’ve met before and that you gave me money?”

She had only admitted it because she was too nervous and blurted it out. Meeting his dark eyes, she stammered, trying to laugh it off. “If President Pei says we’ve met, then we’ve met. But if you say I gave you money, that’s impossible. After all, a big president like you wouldn’t take my money, right, President Pei?”

As she spoke to him, her mind raced, trying to figure out how to get this imposing figure out of her home.
