Su Banxia immediately shook her head. "Impossible!"
She couldn't let Pei Shaoze see Xiao Hao and Guo Guo. After a pause, she lowered her gaze to the little boy beside her and looked at Fang Shiqing. "Where did you find this child?"
"The neighbor next door!"
With that reply, Fang Shiqing walked straight into the bedroom, saying as she went, "Looks like I need to find a new place. The soundproofing in this apartment is really not great."
Fang Shiqing didn't ask anything about Xiao Hao and Guo Guo's appearance or why Pei Shaoze was here today, nor about Su Banxia's nervous and uneasy reaction. Some things, if Banxia didn't bring them up, she wouldn't pry.
...
Dingsheng Group—
After returning from Su Banxia's place, Pei Shaoze had been frowning at a pile of data on his computer screen.
"What are you looking at? So absorbed?"
The sound of Yan Xin's puzzled voice came from beside him.
Pei Shaoze snapped back to reality, frowning coldly. "Don't you know to knock?"
"Tsk!"
Yan Xin placed a stack of documents on the desk and looked at him. "I've knocked out there who knows how many times. You were lost in thought and didn't hear me—don't blame me."
As he spoke, he also glanced at the computer screen and furrowed his brow. "Isn't this the data recovered after the company website was hacked? Why are you looking at that?"
Pei Shaoze leaned back, his tall frame settling into the office chair. "Don't you find this data interesting?"
Yan Xin studied it carefully and nodded. "True. Normally, if someone hacked Dingsheng's system, their goal would be to steal something or cause damage. But this hacker just broke in and left without doing anything."
After a moment's thought, Yan Xin's eyes lit up as he looked at Pei Shaoze. "Could this hacker be a newbie just using Dingsheng for practice?"
Pei Shaoze raised an eyebrow, his dark, bright eyes fixed on him. "Has Dingsheng really fallen to the point where people use it for practice?"
There was a distinct chill in his tone.
Yan Xin was momentarily speechless. He had just been joking—Dingsheng was, after all, a top-tier international company, and its defense system wasn't something just anyone could touch.
To ease the awkwardness, Yan Xin added, "Maybe it's an enemy of Dingsheng!"
Pei Shaoze frowned, his long fingers tapping on the desk as he spoke coldly. "No. If it were an enemy, after hacking the system, they'd immediately try to breach the internal network. But this hacker did nothing after breaking in—it's like a... prank."
Yan Xin studied it for a while and nodded. "You're right."
Looking at Pei Shaoze, he asked, "Did you find the hacker's ID address?"
"Yeah."
As he replied, Pei Shaoze's frown deepened. The hacker's ID address traced back to Su Banxia's home. But knowing her, she couldn't be a hacker, and neither could Fang Shiqing.
That little boy he saw today...
A five-year-old child—could he be a hacker?
Suddenly recalling the pink toy on Su Banxia's sofa, Pei Shaoze narrowed his eyes. Would a boy play with a girl's toy?
Obviously not.
Su Banxia and Fang Shiqing had lied to him.
Yan Xin had no idea what he was thinking, but seeing his expression darken, he quickly made an excuse and left. When Pei Shaoze was in a bad mood, he didn't want to be a punching bag.
Not long after Yan Xin left, Pei Shaoze dialed a number on his phone.
The person on the other end answered respectfully, and he spoke in a low, commanding tone. "Keep an eye on Su Banxia."
This woman had better not be an enemy—otherwise...
