Su Sinian stepped forward and sneered, "Do you really think someone of your status can marry into the Pei family? Old Master Pei has already made it clear—if Pei Shaoze marries you, you won't be his son!"
Hearing this, Su Banxia couldn't help but furrow her brows slightly. She cast a sidelong glance at her but didn't show much emotion in response to her words.
"And what about you?"
The Su family's standing was far below the Pei family's. Su Sinian wanting to become the young mistress of the Pei family probably wouldn't be that easy either.
"Don't worry about me. You'd better worry about yourself!"
Su Sinian was haughty. "You're a smart person. You'll know how to secure your own interests. Even if you don't think for yourself, at least think about the kids, right?"
Su Banxia's face darkened. Her children were always her weak spot.
Su Sinian noticed the change in her expression. She stepped forward and sneered, "Do you really want people to point fingers at your kids and call them bastards?"
"Miss Su, are you done?"
Su Banxia looked at her coldly.
"Take the money and leave—that's your best option."
Su Sinian emphasized repeatedly.
Su Banxia didn't want to engage and turned to leave. Seeing this, Su Sinian couldn't swallow her pride. Back in the Su family, Su Banxia had been a nobody!
She quickly moved in front of her and raised her hand to slap Su Banxia across the face.
Su Banxia felt a gust of wind by her ear and instinctively closed her eyes. But after a few seconds, the expected pain never came.
She cautiously opened her eyes and saw Pei Shaoze firmly gripping Su Sinian's hand.
"P-Pei, President Pei..."
Su Sinian's voice trembled, and her earlier arrogance vanished completely.
"Get lost!"
Pei Shaoze pulled Su Banxia's hand, his eyes icy cold.
Su Sinian shuddered all over. She pointed at Su Banxia's face and shouted angrily, "She's a vixen! President Pei, listen to me—she really is a vixen!"
"I won't repeat myself!"
Pei Shaoze's face darkened, his patience clearly wearing thin.
"Su Banxia is the mother of two children, and those kids belong to Lin Tongze. President Pei, do you really want to be a stepdad that badly?"
Su Sinian clenched her fists tightly, her anger making her reckless.
Pei Shaoze frowned, his expression unreadable as he stared at her.
Realizing she had said the wrong thing, Su Sinian immediately fell silent.
Security quickly arrived, and Pei Shaoze said coldly, "Throw her out. I don't want to see this woman anywhere near Dingsheng from now on!"
His words were utterly cold and merciless.
Su Sinian's legs went weak, and she looked pathetic. She watched helplessly as Pei Shaoze pulled Su Banxia away from her, but there was nothing she could do.
Forcibly escorted out of the Dingsheng premises by security, Su Sinian stumbled. She turned back to look at the building, her resentment burning even stronger.
In the office—
Pei Shaoze shoved Su Banxia roughly inside, his icy demeanor still lingering.
Su Banxia nervously swallowed, avoiding his gaze. "I still have documents to process."
"Why didn't you answer her? Are you in love with me?"
Pei Shaoze's gaze burned as he pressed coldly.
Su Banxia was stunned. Clearly, Pei Shaoze had overheard her conversation with Su Sinian.
"Speak!"
Pei Shaoze disliked her silent attitude.
"Because I don't want to lie to myself."
Su Banxia met his eyes and said each word deliberately.
Pei Shaoze's face turned ashen. "Say that again!"
"Didn't you just hear what Miss Su said, President Pei? My children are Lin Tongze's. Do you really want to be a stepdad that badly?"
Su Banxia said calmly.
But the more composed she appeared on the surface, the more anxious she felt inside.
"Fine. Lin Tongze, is it? Coincidentally, the Lin family's foundation is weak right now. Sending him a little 'gift' wouldn't be hard for me."
A flicker of ruthlessness passed through Pei Shaoze's eyes.
"Pei Shaoze, are you insane?! Can't you stop being so childish? No one's going to put up with you. Can't you think about others for once?"
Su Banxia's anger flared.
She hated Pei Shaoze's arrogant attitude and his domineering ways.
Pei Shaoze looked at her and sneered, "Feeling sorry for him? If you want to plead for him, it depends on your attitude!"
"What are you going to do?"
Su Banxia frowned slightly.
"What do you think?"
Pei Shaoze glanced down at her coldly.
Su Banxia let out a cold laugh. "If that's all President Pei is after, then I have nothing to say."
With that, Su Banxia reached up to unbutton her collar, wrapped her arms around Pei Shaoze's neck, and said seductively, "Is this to your satisfaction, President Pei?"
"Get lost!"
Pei Shaoze pushed her away, tugging at his tie in frustration. "Su Banxia, I've only just realized today—you really are disgusting!"
With that, Pei Shaoze turned and left.
Su Banxia listened to the door slam shut, and her body went limp, collapsing to the floor.
It felt like all her strength had been drained from her, leaving her weak and powerless.
Pei Shaoze didn't return to the office for the rest of the afternoon. Su Banxia spent the whole day in a daze, her mood heavy and restless.
The night breeze was gentle. Pei Shaoze called Yan Xin and asked him to come out for a drink.
Yan Xin, annoyed at having his good sleep interrupted, looked at the scattered bottles in front of Pei Shaoze and asked flatly, "Got dumped?"
"Drink with me."
Pei Shaoze handed him a glass and filled it.
"Don't tell me it's about Su Banxia again."
Yan Xin glanced at the glass in front of him, making no move to pick it up.
Pei Shaoze said nothing, just kept pouring drinks down his throat.
Yan Xin sat across from him in silence, occasionally taking a sip to keep up appearances.
They stayed in the private room until late, only stopping after several cases of beer were empty.
Exhausted from the late night, Yan Xin could barely keep his eyes open. After successfully getting Pei Shaoze home, he finally returned to his own place, grumbling inwardly about Pei Shaoze's antics.
Back at the company the next day, Yan Xin still looked half-asleep, while Pei Shaoze was as energetic as ever.
"Were you handling the Su family's case before?"
Pei Shaoze looked at him coldly.
Unsure of his intent, Yan Xin nodded lightly. "I looked into their company's details when we were considering working with them. If we want to cooperate again, it'll be easier."
"No need."
Pei Shaoze's gaze sharpened, a chill creeping in. "I want you to go all out in suppressing the Su family, with the goal of eventually acquiring them."
Yan Xin was stunned. "The Su family is just a small business. Acquiring them won't do us much good."
"Just do as I say. Why all the questions?"
Pei Shaoze shot him a sidelong glance.
