"Next time, please make sure your body is in proper condition before coming to work, Secretary Su. This is a company, not a charity. We won't send someone to the hospital every time."
Pei Shaoze said coldly.
Hearing his words, Su Banxia could only grit her teeth and swallow the grievances she felt.
It was clearly the fault of the instigator standing before her, yet she was the one being scolded!
Seeing her unusually obedient, Pei Shaoze gave a few casual instructions before calling for a doctor.
After the doctor briefly examined Su Banxia and confirmed she was fine, Pei Shaoze finally relaxed.
"But don't push yourself so hard at work in the future. At your age, health is the most important thing."
The doctor added a reminder before leaving.
Pei Shaoze frowned slightly, checked the time, and made a call to have lunch delivered.
He only got up to leave after personally watching Su Banxia eat and rest. With too many new projects at the company recently, the time he'd taken to come here was already squeezed out of his schedule.
Feeling his departure, Su Banxia finally let out a sigh of relief, then slowly opened her eyes.
With Pei Shaoze around, her nerves were constantly on edge. Now that this living demon had finally left, she could properly relax.
The afternoon sun was warm, casting a cozy glow over everything.
Su Banxia got out of bed and strolled leisurely along the hospital path.
It would have been a pleasant moment, but someone's appearance completely ruined her mood.
"Su Banxia."
Gu Feifei stood before her with an air of arrogance, a distinctive challenge on her face.
"It's you?"
Su Banxia glanced at the report in her hand, her brows furrowing slightly.
Gu Feifei looked her over and clicked her tongue. "Coming to the hospital alone? Here for an abortion? Makes sense. A woman like you, passed through so many hands, is just a plaything at best. How could Pei Shaoze ever want you?"
"Do you think everyone comes to the hospital for the same reason as you?"
Su Banxia replied coldly, not holding back her sarcasm.
Stung by the jab, Gu Feifei's face darkened. "At least my child is legitimate. Unlike you, who doesn't even know who those two bastards belong to!"
"Slap!"
Su Banxia raised her hand and delivered a sharp slap without hesitation.
Her two children had always been the treasures of her heart—how could she allow anyone to speak of them so arrogantly?
Gu Feifei covered her face in disbelief, panic written all over it. "Su Banxia, you dare hit me?"
"What if I did? You think your child is legitimate? I wonder if Ren Yuan's head is already covered in green grass!"
Su Banxia scoffed. Did this woman really think everyone was like her?
"Su Banxia! You bitch!"
Gu Feifei lunged forward with a shriek, but her heavy body made her movements clumsy.
In the midst of their scuffle, the examination report slipped from Gu Feifei's hand and scattered across the ground. Seizing the moment of panic, Su Banxia quickly crouched down and picked up one of the papers.
"Abortion?"
Su Banxia shot her a sidelong glance. Gu Feifei's belly was at least six or seven months along.
"Give it back."
Gu Feifei snatched it from her hastily, her eyes icy.
Su Banxia said coldly, "Not keeping a child this far along? Could it be someone else's?"
"Shut up!"
Gu Feifei's face was rigid, her temper clearly at its limit.
"Don't think I don't know about your little affair with Lin Haoran. I'm really curious—does Ren Yuan know?"
Su Banxia's smile was tinged with irony.
Those two had teamed up to cuckold her, and she was genuinely curious what Ren Yuan's expression would be when he found out.
Gu Feifei's face turned pale. Her fingers curled inward, gripping the report tightly. "My business is none of your concern!"
Watching Gu Feifei storm off in a fury, Su Banxia stood there, lost in thought for a long time.
Ren Yuan wasn't stupid. If he spent every day with Gu Feifei, how could he not see the truth?
Unless Ren Yuan had been kept in the dark?
After mulling it over, Su Banxia found that explanation most plausible, and she couldn't help but admire Gu Feifei's clever tactics.
The hospital corridor was silent. After her walk, Su Banxia returned to her room, but when she saw who was sitting inside, her face immediately fell.
"President Pei?"
Su Banxia's expression soured. She hadn't been gone that long—how was he back already?
Pei Shaoze stared at her expressionlessly.
His burning gaze felt like it could scorch her.
"I just went for a walk. I—"
"Are my words just wind?"
Pei Shaoze's eyes narrowed, a chill seeping through. If he hadn't forgotten something and come back, he'd never have known this woman couldn't wait to get out of bed right after he left.
Su Banxia gave an awkward laugh, cleared her throat, and said slowly, "I just felt too stuffy in the room, so I went for a stroll."
"Is that so?"
"I'm sorry."
Su Banxia quickly lowered her head, adopting a proper apologetic stance.
Pei Shaoze said coldly, "Secretary Su seems full of energy, so you should be fit for work. I'll have someone send you the company's latest documents tomorrow. I hope you can handle them smoothly."
"President Pei."
Su Banxia gritted her teeth, irritation plain on her face. Had she just dug her own grave?
Picking up the documents from the table, Pei Shaoze turned and left with a cold expression.
Su Banxia slumped into a chair, utterly dejected. That damn Pei Shaoze was nothing but a ruthless capitalist, always squeezing every drop out of her!
And yet, she had no choice but to go along with it!
Su Banxia felt like crying but had no tears. Just as she was stewing in frustration, her phone rang unexpectedly—it was Lin Tongze.
"Tongze."
Su Banxia's voice was soft, carrying an indescribable sweetness.
"You're sick?"
Lin Tongze's tone was full of concern.
He'd heard the news from Fang Shiqing. If he hadn't run into her, he'd never have known so much had happened recently.
"Not at all. I just got hungry."
Su Banxia gritted her teeth and said calmly.
Lin Tongze was taken aback. "Hungry?"
At that, Su Banxia felt quite embarrassed. "Too fat, so I got hungry."
"I see."
Lin Tongze's tightly wound heart relaxed, but he still couldn't help adding, "Losing weight is secondary—taking care of your health is what really matters."
"I've learned my lesson once. It won't happen again."
Su Banxia said indignantly.
Next time she had to face off with Pei Shaoze, she'd make sure to eat her fill before fighting back!
She couldn't keep losing every time, could she?
"How have things been with him lately?"
Lin Tongze hesitated but finally asked.
