Chapter 66: I Have Kids with Me, It’s Inconvenient
Once in the car, the two children sat in the back, while Su Banxia took the passenger seat.
As the car started moving, the kids began playing on their own, and Su Banxia chatted with Lin Tongze.
Bringing up Dingsheng, Su Banxia said, "Pei Shaoze might really have nothing to do with what happened last time. Otherwise, if he’d pulled off something that big and caused such a stir at Lin Corporation, there’d be some trace left around him."
Lin Tongze nodded. "Yeah, that might not have been him."
Months ago, in France, Lin Tongze’s company faced unprecedented difficulties. Someone inside the company deliberately caused trouble, nearly sparking a major crisis. If Lin Tongze hadn’t been sharp enough to turn things around, Lin Corporation would probably be out of business by now.
Su Banxia had been doing well in France, but the longer she stayed abroad, the more she missed home, so she planned to return to China. That’s why Lin Tongze asked her to come back and help investigate whether Pei Shaoze was behind Lin Corporation’s setback. As for why Lin Tongze immediately suspected Pei Shaoze when Lin Corporation ran into trouble, Su Banxia didn’t dwell on it.
She joined Dingsheng with the goal of finding out if Pei Shaoze was responsible for Lin Corporation’s sudden crisis. After being back for a while and investigating for some time, Su Banxia still hadn’t uncovered anything or found any clues. So, thinking it over, she felt it might not be related to Pei Shaoze after all.
Lin Tongze, as suspicious as Pei Shaoze, thought for a moment and said, "For now, bear with it and stay at Dingsheng. I’m not sure what Pei Shaoze is up to, but if he really tries to strike at Lin Corporation, I have evidence, so I won’t be afraid of him or the old man causing trouble."
Su Banxia was slightly taken aback. "The old man?"
Lin Tongze nodded. There were some things he couldn’t easily explain to Su Banxia, so he changed the subject. "Are you having any trouble staying at Dingsheng? Has Pei Shaoze given you a hard time?"
Su Banxia shook her head. "No."
She hadn’t mentioned her relationship with Pei Shaoze to Lin Tongze yet. It all felt too messy and hard to sort out.
Jinling Bay.
It was a newly developed luxury tourism project in Yanshi over the past two years. Most of the area consisted of villas, with a vast green lawn set within. Because of its size, flowers were planted all around. The developer likely intended to turn this area into something like Provence from the start. After all, it featured several acres of lavender fields, along with fruit trees and other flower varieties.
The buildings inside were all European-style, with small castles and English signage. Since it was newly developed, there weren’t many people here yet, and few had moved into the castles. Lin Tongze had booked a hotel.
The drive passed by numerous castles.
At first, Guo Guo played with Su Hao, but once they entered Jinling Bay, she pressed her face against the car window to look at the scenery outside. Watching, she said to Su Banxia, "Mom, this looks a lot like our old home."
Back in France, Lin Tongze had arranged for the three of them to live in a small town near the city, so Guo Guo found this place familiar. After all, it was built in a European style.
Su Banxia nodded in agreement and also gazed out the window.
Lin Tongze spoke as he drove. "This place just finished construction. Sales should start in a couple of days. Lin Corporation is partnering with the developer, so I’ll see if there’s a suitable one to buy here."
Su Banxia shook her head slightly. "It’s too far from the city center. If you’re a freelancer, it’s fine, but if you work in the city, commuting back and forth would be a hassle."
Lin Tongze looked at her. "You could move your work here later. Considering the education needs of the kids living here, they’ve also built schools and hospitals. Once this area develops, it won’t be bad."
Su Banxia knew that. Hearing him say it, she started to consider the idea. Over the years in France, with Lin Tongze’s support, she’d saved some money. It wouldn’t be enough to buy a house here outright, but a down payment might be doable. But if she did that, she’d have to find work nearby after leaving Dingsheng.
At the hotel entrance.
Lin Tongze parked the car. A valet came over, took the keys from him, and drove off to park. Then, Lin Tongze took one child by each hand and led them into the hotel.
Since the hotel was booked in advance, the staff handled the check-in quickly and escorted them upstairs. Lin Tongze got a phone call and asked Su Banxia to take the kids up first.
Guo Guo and Su Hao were excited to finally be out playing, so they tugged at Su Banxia, bouncing around energetically.
Their room was on the seventh floor. The attendant led them there and left. Su Banxia took the room key, and Guo Guo chattered, "Mom, can we go take pictures on the lawn later?"
Su Banxia nodded as she opened the door. She let the two kids into the room, but sensing someone staring at her, she frowned slightly and looked up.
She met Ye Hengtian’s smiling eyes.
"What a coincidence, Miss Su."
Su Banxia was surprised to run into him here too. She smiled and said, "Hello, President Ye."
"Darling, who is it?"
A soft female voice came from behind Ye Hengtian, and then a woman wrapped in a bath towel appeared from behind him. Hearing the voice, Ye Hengtian turned to look at her and laughed. "Ran into an acquaintance, just saying hi."
The woman came up to him, and he casually pulled her into his arms. Smiling at Su Banxia, he glanced past her at the room behind her. "Miss Su here on vacation with the kids?"
Su Banxia nodded, her gaze falling on the woman beside him. She had long blonde hair, and the towel wrapped around her was slipping from rubbing against him, nearly falling off. The curve of her chest was faintly visible.
Su Banxia smiled. "President Ye, I won’t keep you."
With that, she turned to go into her room.
Ye Hengtian called out, "Miss Su, how about we grab a meal together later? It’s rare to meet like this."
"No need. I have two kids with me—it’ll be inconvenient."
"That’s fine. I really like children."
Su Banxia: "..."
She really disliked this Ye Hengtian, not just because he was Ye Lan’s brother, but because she always felt he was too calculating. With someone like that, it was best to stay strangers if possible.
Entering the room, she smiled and closed the door.
Ye Hengtian held the woman in his arms, his gaze fixed on the closed door of Su Banxia’s room, his eyes narrowing slightly, dark and unreadable.
The woman in his arms rubbed against him for a while, then softened into his embrace. "Darling, who was that woman?"
"A friend."
With that, Ye Hengtian pulled the woman into his room and shut the door. Suddenly, he pressed her against the door, yanking off her bathrobe, and began to openly admire her naked body. The woman didn’t shy away, smiling as she let him look.
Her voice soft and coquettish, she traced circles on his chest. "Darling, looking at me like this without doing anything makes me feel so frustrated."
