Shen Yunyun got out of the car, stretched her limbs, and looked around the villa. "The scenery here is really nice."
Lin Mengxing: "..."
At a time like this, she still had the mood to admire the scenery.
She coldly said to the old butler, "You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not the 'madam' you're talking about. I'm only seventeen and not married."
The old butler's professional smile faltered for a moment. "When the master returns, you can explain it to him yourself. He's a good man and won't make things difficult for you."
With that, the old butler reached out to invite Lin Mengxing inside.
Lin Mengxing naturally didn't want to go in.
But Shen Yunyun stepped forward and linked arms with her, saying, "Sister Mengxing, since we're here, why not take a look? I've never been to such a high-end, luxurious place before."
As she spoke, she gently squeezed Lin Mengxing's hand. Lin Mengxing didn't know what she was planning, but she nodded anyway.
Going head-to-head with them right now was clearly not the best move.
From their conversation, Shen Yunyun had roughly figured out who had kidnapped them.
But she wasn't sure why the Sheng father and son had done this.
Since they had already held a funeral for Lin Qingyu, it was clear they wanted her to disappear from public view completely.
She even thought that Sheng Sinian might have done this to make room for a third party, announcing her death to the world.
Though she found the approach distasteful, it wasn't illogical.
So why had they suddenly brought her back now? There had to be another reason.
She guessed that the Sheng father and son might be afraid Sister Mengxing would expose their lies, harming their interests—or worse, that they were already breaking the law.
Or maybe they were seeking revenge? Sister Mengxing had outsmarted them, leaving them unable to voice their grievances.
Seven or eight hundred million was no small sum; it was entirely possible.
But all of this was just her speculation. She needed to find time to ask for clarification.
Lin Mengxing knew Shen Yunyun had her own ideas. Since they couldn't leave anyway, she could only nod in agreement.
Seeing the two enter the villa together without asking for their phones back or saying anything else, the old butler finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Still, he ordered all the security personnel in the villa to stay on high alert, making sure the "madam" couldn't escape.
Though he believed the young girl in front of him couldn't possibly be their madam—their madam was over fifty, still looking young but clearly not a teenager, no matter how well she maintained herself—this girl looked only seventeen or eighteen. How could she be their madam?
But he always followed orders. Whatever the master arranged, he would carry out.
There was no need to ask too many questions.
The old butler led Lin Mengxing upstairs.
Lin Mengxing asked, "Are we only allowed to stay in the room?"
The old butler smiled. "As long as the madam doesn't leave the villa, you're free to wander the courtyard."
Shen Yunyun quickly tugged Lin Mengxing's arm and said, "Sister, since we're already inside, this is a rare chance. Maybe once we meet the villa's owner, we'll be sent away. Why don't we look around?"
She acted like someone who had never seen the world, her eyes sparkling, her face full of longing and envy.
The old butler's gaze softened, and he said nothing more.
Lin Mengxing shook her head helplessly and turned to the old butler. "We'll take a stroll. You don't need to follow. If you're worried, you can send a couple of people to keep a distance."
