Chapter 49: Chapter 49: The Cunning Wei Lingling

What a coincidence—the surveillance camera just happened to be broken. It was too convenient. Fingerprint analysis also turned up nothing—no traces of anyone else’s prints. Whoever did this was extremely cautious, and it was basically certain that it was someone familiar.

Tang Yu was furious, his brows sharp and fierce, his expression full of menace—not a trace of his usual foolish demeanor. This was a side of him Shen Yunyun had never seen before. People really did have two sides. With Shen Yunyun, Tang Yu had always seemed a bit simple and silly, but when he got serious, he was actually quite formidable.

Tang Yu’s face darkened. Those few small bottles of medicine were worth a lot of money. How was he supposed to explain this to his aunt? Even if his aunt might not really hold it against him, he couldn’t just play dumb and ignore it. Besides, having someone like that around—if he didn’t root them out, he wouldn’t feel safe.

Wei Lingling was cunning. Shen Yunyun had used an invisibility talisman to tail her for three or four days, but she never slipped up. She even started to wonder if she had guessed wrong—maybe it wasn’t Wei Lingling after all? She used the invisibility talisman to follow Wei Lingling, hoping to see if she was really suspicious. But Wei Lingling turned out to be quite the character. Her daily life was perfectly normal—either shopping or cooking for Tang Yu, with nothing out of the ordinary. Shen Yunyun used up all her invisibility talismans and still found nothing off about Wei Lingling.

Still, every time Wei Lingling saw her in Tang Yu’s office, the look in her eyes made Shen Yunyun uncomfortable. That look was like a provocation—the kind of arrogance that said, “You can’t stand me, but you can’t get rid of me either.”

Shen Yunyun decided to stop pretending and confronted her directly. “Wei Lingling, was it you?” Wei Lingling smiled, still gentle and composed, raising an eyebrow at her as if she were looking at a fool. “Can’t find the mole, so you’re trying to entrap me?” she said, holding out her hand. Shen Yunyun was confused. “What are you doing?” “You’re recording, aren’t you?” Shen Yunyun’s face darkened as she pulled out her phone. Seeing that the phone wasn’t recording, Wei Lingling took out a fingernail-sized device and scanned her. Finding no recording device, she smirked. Looks like she was dealing with someone naive—she had been overly cautious for nothing. She put away the small device and smiled even more arrogantly. “So what if it was me? Do you have proof? Want me to teach you? You should have asked me in a place with surveillance that also records audio. Or you should have secretly recorded it to gather evidence. That way, you’d have something on me. Otherwise, it’s just a false accusation.”

Shen Yunyun was furious and turned to leave. She was going to tell Tang Yu. Wei Lingling laughed. “Going to tell Tang Yu? Do you think he’ll believe you?” Shen Yunyun just glanced at her and went straight to find Tang Yu. Wei Lingling quickly followed.

“Tang Yu, Wei Lingling already admitted it was her. You can investigate her,” Shen Yunyun said. Tang Yu’s scrutinizing gaze immediately shifted to Wei Lingling. He had actually suspected her too, but he didn’t want to believe it. Why would she do this? Hadn’t he treated her well enough?

Wei Lingling’s eyes instantly reddened. “Auntie, what are you talking about? I know you don’t like me, that you’re jealous that I’m Brother Yu’s official girlfriend, so you’re trying to frame me. But for Brother Yu’s sake, I’ve tolerated your presence. Why can’t you just get along with me? We could coexist peacefully, couldn’t we?” Tears began to fall as she spoke.

Shen Yunyun stared at her like she was watching a fool. Indeed, a lack of information could make someone look like a clown. Like Wei Lingling at this moment. Tang Yu also looked at Wei Lingling in disbelief.
