Wei Lingling suddenly turned to Tang Yu, pleading, "Brother Yu, you can't do this to me, you can't. I'm carrying your child. I'm pregnant."

"Granny, the baby is important." Tang Yu looked at Shen Yunyun pleadingly.
Shen Yunyun asked, "Are you sure she's pregnant? Are you sure the child is yours?"
Tang Yu wasn't sure anymore.
Wei Lingling tugged at his pant leg. "Brother Yu, the child is yours. I wanted to surprise you, but I never got the chance to tell you."
Tang Yu hesitated, staring blankly at Wei Lingling.

Karl's message came through the optical brain to Shen Yunyun's. Shen Yunyun jolted, her expression darkening as she looked at Karl. He gave her a slight nod.
Shen Yunyun calmed her emotions and viewed the situation from an outsider's perspective. She had indeed been meddling too much. Tang Yu was too young; some hardships he had to experience himself. No one could avoid all life's pitfalls by relying on others' experiences. At worst, if he fell into a hole, she, as his granny, could pull him out.
"Brother Yu, I made mistakes, and I'll accept the punishment. But the child is innocent. This is your own flesh and blood. Are you really going to stand by and do nothing?"
"Granny, the child..." Tang Yu's heart softened as expected, and he turned to look at Shen Yunyun.

Tang Yu immediately carried Wei Lingling to the hospital.
The child didn't survive.

Wei Lingling sobbed, touching her belly. "I don't blame you. It just wasn't meant to be between this child and me. Now that I've lost the baby, I should face the punishment for my mistakes. Call the police."
"Lingling, you had your reasons, didn't you?"
Wei Lingling's tears poured down. "Even if I had reasons, I still did those things. So don't go easy on me."
Tang Yu closed his eyes and said, "Give me back the medicine you stole, and I'll let bygones be bygones."
Wei Lingling's eyes flickered slightly. She knew keeping a backup plan was always the right move.
