In the darkness, the only things clearly visible were the illuminated areas, and what Sean saw now was his own reflection standing by the window!
So this was [Mind Vision]? A pretty practical spell.
Sean tried to turn his head slightly, only to find that this vision was fixed and didn't rotate—instead, the version of himself standing by the window was foolishly shaking his head.
Huh?
Did that mean he couldn't control the owl's field of view? Only his own body could move?
Lowering his head, Sean indeed saw the motion of himself in front of the window lowering his head... Sure enough, while this vision allowed him to see through an animal's eyes, it depended on where the animal itself was looking.
Recalling the raven that had always followed Lucille, no wonder she chose to directly tame a pet.
Because that was much more obedient than a wild one...
Suddenly,
He felt the vision start jumping erratically—the owl had taken flight and was heading toward a haystack. In the nocturnal animal's sight, he could see small creatures scurrying through the pile.
Sean quickly grabbed the window frame and squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them again, his vision finally returned to normal.
Looking at the grimoire in his hand...
These spells were indeed useful, and after casting this one, Sean didn't feel like his mental energy had been drained much. On one hand, it was probably due to his improved proficiency now; on the other, it was likely because of the incantation's aid.
Lucille had mentioned earlier that spell levels required long-term practice to improve, but using incantations and magical tools could reduce mental energy consumption.
What she said didn't quite match his situation, but Sean could still explain it in his own way...
If he got the chance this time, he really wanted to find a magic professional to explain more to him. The deeper he delved, the more he realized how much he didn't understand. Back then, he hadn't reached this stage, so he hadn't asked Lucille about many things.
It would be great to meet someone like that again!
………………………………
The next day, the caravan set off early as usual.
Since they were nearing Koga City, the pace was a bit faster than before. The old driver said he'd load up the goods during the day and rush back to the small town by evening—that was the typical life of a caravan.
A straight line between two points; the only difference was where you chose to stop.
"If you have any messages to send home, I can help you with that." Over the past two days, they'd developed a good impression of each other, so the old driver was willing to do Sean these small favors.
"Not for now... but where do your caravans usually stop?"
The other's words reminded him that he could rely on them to relay information in the future, so he could stay informed about what was happening in the small town.
"Easy to find. It's at the trade market on Brukan Avenue in Koga City. Most caravans in the area stop there to load goods—it's the busiest commercial street in the city."
Brukan Avenue...
It sounded familiar to Sean. He reached into his waist pouch and felt the small box containing the quill pen.
Luke's old flame was practically right there!
"When you get there, just ask for Old Griffin—everyone knows me..." the old driver continued to explain.
"By the way, do you know where Skov's Shop is?"
"Skov?" He glanced toward the sky as if thinking.
"That name doesn't ring a bell... Wait, a few years ago, I might have delivered a crate of saltpeter addressed to Skov's Shop. You could try looking in the engineering district, just north of Brukan Avenue," he said.
The caravan entered Koga City just before noon. This was Sean's first time seeing the legendary Koga City.
From a distance, it looked like a massive cluster of buildings, far larger than his small town. It seemed to stretch from the plains up to the mountainside and even to the peak, where the most conspicuous sight was an airship docked near a tall tower.
That must be an airship!
A hot-air balloon-shaped floating vessel with a hull-like structure underneath.
Since he didn't know the way, Sean asked the caravan to drop him off at the so-called Brukan Avenue before getting off...
This city was incredibly bustling, with wide roads—carriages traveled in the center while pedestrians walked on the sides. The layout was very well-planned.
"Follow this road north to the end, and you'll reach the engineering district. You can buy lots of mechanical gadgets there. Ask around, and you should find the shop you're looking for."
"Thanks, I appreciate it."
Sean genuinely wanted to thank the old driver, who had not only taken good care of him over the past two days but also taught him a lot about surviving on the road.
"Don't mention it. If you ever need help in the future, just come here and find me." The old driver was a straightforward man, and too much sentimentality would have felt awkward.
Sean headed north, leaving the trade market...
He had a few plans in mind. One option was to go straight to the Earl's residence and announce his identity—being a noble, he'd at least receive a warm welcome. If he said he was there to thank them, they might be even more enthusiastic, and he could use his recent popularity to promote himself a bit.
The Earl's residence was certainly safer and more comfortable than the outside...
But Sean didn't like this kind of mutually exploitative relationship. Besides, the guards at the Earl's residence were likely high-level. If he practiced magic there, Sean couldn't guarantee he wouldn't be discovered.
A noble learning magic probably wasn't a big issue, but Sean felt that if word got out, it might attract the attention of other wizards... It had been over a month since that incident, and while no other wizards had appeared in the small town, there was no guarantee they wouldn't send someone to look for the 'missing person.' If news spread that the lord of Talemian Town could also use magic...
That would put him in the spotlight again!
He couldn't afford to be that flashy yet... At least until he figured out the whole story, it was better to keep a low profile.
Another option was to seek out Luke's old flame. Though the chances were slim, Sean wanted to check it out first.
After all, having someone familiar with Koga City would make things much easier for him, and he could stay in touch with the small town...
Looking at the passersby around him, almost all had [1000] health points floating above their heads, indicating they were ordinary people. Occasionally, a few with 1000+ appeared, meaning they had excellent physical fitness and strong vitality.
Various emotions and states also popped up above their heads.
At times like this, Sean usually chose to look at the ground while walking, because with so many people, the attributes popping up were dizzying.
"Sir... would you like some fruit?"
A small pair of toes appeared in his line of sight.
Sean lifted his head slightly. Standing before him was a girl with a red shawl.
A few freckles were visible on her pale face, and when she saw him look up, her eyes held a hint of timidity...
