Chapter 27: Chapter 27: He Said He Has Two Sons

After leaving the restaurant, Chu Lingzhi and Chu Junyu played outside for a while before heading home. Chu Lingzhi had a habit of taking a shower as soon as she got home. Stepping out of the bathroom in her pajamas with wet hair, she exuded a certain charm. She didn’t see Chu Junyu sitting in the living room watching reports about Nangong Yehen. Frowning slightly, she wondered, *Huh, is this kid being unusually well-behaved tonight?*

She walked into Chu Junyu’s room and found him lying on the bed, propped up against a pillow with his little legs crossed and a tablet resting on his knees. His small fingers swiped across the screen, and a faint smile lingered on his handsome little face. Chu Lingzhi came over, stood by his bed, and glanced at the screen. The kid was playing a mini-game.

“Mommy, you smell so good,” Chu Junyu said, tilting his handsome little face up with a grin after finishing a round. Chu Lingzhi reached out and ruffled his hair. “Not watching Nangong Yehen’s news tonight?” “There haven’t been any reports about him lately,” Chu Junyu said. After a moment’s thought, he looked up at her. “Mommy, if one day my dad suddenly came back to claim me, what would you do?” “Why ask that all of a sudden?” Chu Lingzhi raised an eyebrow. “I just saw a touching scene of a father and son reuniting,” Chu Junyu lied. “What could I do? I’ve even forgotten what he looks like. The real question is what you’d do.” “I’ll do whatever you tell me to.” “Now that’s the son I’ve raised for five years.” Chu Lingzhi beamed, then her expression suddenly turned fierce. “If he dares to come and claim you, I’ll…” She made a slashing gesture. “What if he’s Nangong Yehen?” Chu Junyu asked meaningfully. “Same…” She made the slashing gesture again. Whoever he was, if she ever ran into him, she’d kill him without hesitation! “Mommy, you’re so fierce,” Chu Junyu said, giving her a thumbs-up. “I have to be,” she replied. How else could she protect him?

“Mommy, at the restaurant today, I saw a man who looked a lot like Nangong Yehen,” Chu Junyu lied again. “Mm,” Chu Lingzhi responded noncommittally. Chu Junyu grinned mischievously. “Turns out he’s even more handsome and imposing in person than on TV.” Chu Lingzhi raised an eyebrow and squinted at him. Really? Was Nangong Yehen actually that handsome, as good as he said? Chu Lingzhi didn’t think so. She felt that man wasn’t all that impressive. “Too bad, though—he said he has two sons.” That did surprise Chu Lingzhi. “He has two sons?” “Yeah, he…” Chu Junyu almost blurted out, *He told me himself*, but caught himself and changed it to, “He mentioned it in an interview once.” “He looks pretty young,” Chu Lingzhi remarked. Then, thinking of something, she gave Chu Junyu a light tap on the head. “You little brat, what does it matter to you whether he has kids or not? What’s there to feel sorry about?” Chu Junyu rubbed his sore head, annoyed. “I’m feeling sorry for you.” “Why feel sorry for me?” Chu Junyu pouted. “I was hoping you two could be together.” “Chu Junyu, have you been too bored lately? Always thinking about such nonsense.” Chu Lingzhi glared at him. Never mind that Nangong Yehen was already a father of two, practically an old man. Even if he had no woman and was single, she wouldn’t fall for him or be with him.
