Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Her New Husband

Shencheng, as night fell. "It's late. Please rest, young master and young mistress." An Ruo watched helplessly as Butler Chen closed the door. She took a deep breath, her fingers unconsciously gripping her clothes. In the silent room, only the hum of the air conditioner's heater broke the stillness.

Suddenly, the sound of wheelchair wheels rolling made her tense up. The girl turned to look at the man in the wheelchair. His face was nearly flawless—sharp, chiseled features with a sculpted, three-dimensional quality. His thin lips were pressed together, exuding an air of restraint, while his thick, dark brows radiated a powerful masculine charm.

But... His eyes were deep, a result of his blindness, and his lower body was immobile, confining him to a wheelchair day in and day out.

"Um..." An Ruo's heart skipped a beat. She slowly approached the man and tentatively waved her hand in front of his eyes. The man remained unmoved, his deep eyes as lifeless and pitch-black as a void.

So the rumors were true. Shen family heir Shen Xiaoxing had survived a plane crash two years ago, but it left him crippled and blind. Since then, his temper had turned violent, cold, and unpredictable. Word had it he even broke the leg of a servant who attended to him...

And this blind, crippled man was to be her husband for the next three years. The Shen and An families had an old betrothal agreement, but as the Shen family's business grew into a financial empire, they stopped mentioning the marriage. Ande Yu had shamelessly brought up the engagement multiple times, only to be brushed off.

But a few days ago, Old Master Shen suddenly visited, wanting to honor the old promise and demanding that the An family's daughter marry into the Shen family. Ande Yu, of course, couldn't bear to let his own daughter marry a man who was both blind and crippled. Besides, Shen Xiaoxing wasn't the only heir in the Shen family. With his disabilities, it was uncertain whether he could inherit the family business.

Yet Old Master Shen dangled tempting benefits. The An family couldn't refuse a two-hundred-million investment, so they ignored An Ruo's fate, secretly stuffing her into a car and marrying her off. It was nothing more than a marriage to bring good luck—no wedding, no gown, no blessings from family or friends. And so, An Ruo entered the Shen family.

None of that mattered. As long as they kept their promise to cover her brother's medical expenses, she would marry anyone!

"Is the bathwater ready?" A deep, magnetic male voice suddenly jolted An Ruo back to reality. An Ruo froze. "Me?" The man replied coldly, "Who else would it be?" She let out a slow "Ah" and hurried into the bathroom to run the water.

As her figure disappeared, a flicker of strange light passed through the man's deep eyes. So they bought him a wife to serve him personally?

In the bathroom. An Ruo tested the water temperature. Turning around, her smile froze. With his inability to take care of himself, was she supposed to help him with everything? "Mr. Shen, I'll help you take off your top. You can handle the rest yourself, right?" This cold, proud man surely wouldn't want her touching him too much.

But the man unexpectedly said, "I can't." Seriously? Where's your pride? Your stubbornness? An Ruo took a deep breath. Fine, it's just taking care of someone. She had volunteered with a charity group before and helped disabled people.

Trembling, she began unbuttoning his shirt, catching the faint, cool scent of him—clean and sharp, just like the man himself. Button by button, she revealed his taut, firm chest. An Ruo paused, her gaze drifting downward... His abs were clearly defined, his physique perfectly proportioned like a Greek sculpture. How could someone who spent all day in a wheelchair have such an incredible body?

Then her eyes landed somewhere they shouldn't have. It seemed quite... Just as her hand touched his pants button, a sharp shout rang out: "Get out!" Hmph, what's with the attitude? You're the one who told me to undress you!

---

An Ruo found a set of bedding in the room and decided to sleep on the sofa tonight. She had no idea how to get along with her new husband, especially one she'd never met before, with such an unpredictable temper.

After setting everything up, she obediently sat on the sofa, waiting for Shen Xiaoxing to come out. Figuring he couldn't kick her out in his condition, she decided to make do for the night.

Over twenty long minutes passed. An Ruo's heart pounded. Could the man have drowned in the bathtub? Just as she hesitated to barge in, the frosted glass door swung open with a loud noise, startling her into looking up.

The man was casually wrapped in a bathrobe, his short hair dripping wet, strands plastered to his forehead. Water droplets slid down his chiseled jawline into his collar... Seeing him come out, An Ruo quickly got up to grab a hairdryer.

Hearing her movements, the man's voice turned icy: "Why are you still here? Get out!" An Ruo: "..." This was their wedding night, and he was actually kicking her out without any consideration?

And even if she had to leave, did he have to use the word "get out"? So cold and heartless. Remembering the rumors about him, An Ruo reluctantly walked to the door, grabbed the handle, and twisted it twice. It was locked.

Did Butler Chen do this? "Mr. Shen, it's not that I don't want to leave, but your people locked the door." The man ignored her, maneuvering his wheelchair to the bed. With strong arms, he lifted himself effortlessly and lay down to sleep.

Seeing that he wasn't kicking her out anymore, An Ruo let out a temporary sigh of relief.
