Sheng Qi stared at her, clearly not believing her words. After all, this girl had a habit of spouting nonsense whenever she felt like it!
"Really!" Bai Tang raised her hand as if swearing an oath.
"Aren't you afraid of being struck by lightning?" Sheng Qi said coldly.
"You're my lightning rod!" Bai Tang smiled. "With you around, I'm not afraid even if it rains blood from the sky!"
Sheng Qi: "..."
"Get serious with me. Tell me, why did that person come after you?" Sheng Qi warned icily.
Bai Tang looked utterly innocent. "I'm totally clueless too!"
Sheng Qi stared at her, and though she didn't seem to be lying, Feng Zi's reaction when he saw her today still made him feel things weren't as simple as they appeared!
Bai Tang ate calmly, feeling the intense, probing gaze from Sheng Qi. She couldn't help but sigh inwardly: As expected of a big shot, even fooling him isn't so easy!
Clearly, her words hadn't dispelled his doubts.
Bai Tang wasn't in a hurry either. After all, with something as bizarre as rebirth, a man as upright, morally sound, and ideologically sharp as Sheng Qi would never even consider it!
To Sheng Qi, the girl's current leisurely calm came across as carefree and heartless.
Since he couldn't get any answers from Bai Tang, he figured he might find what he was looking for from Feng Zi.
Once Bai Tang sensed that Sheng Qi's gaze on her had lost its unsettling edge, she smiled and spoke again: "Handsome, how about we go see a movie together later?"
"No," Sheng Qi refused.
"You have something to do?" Bai Tang said with a grin. "Then I'll come with you."
"I'm going home to sleep," Sheng Qi said coldly.
"I can keep you company too!"
Sheng Qi: "..."
After the meal, Sheng Qi drove, not saying a single word to Bai Tang the entire way, and directly took her home.
"This isn't the right route, is it?" Bai Tang said with a smile.
Sheng Qi ignored her, parked the car in front of her villa, and said coldly, "Get out."
Bai Tang laughed. "Handsome, you really make me... like you more and more. What should I do?"
Sheng Qi turned his head and met the girl's bright, starry eyes. A strange feeling flickered through his heart, fleeting and gone.
"Do you want me to kick you out?"
Sheng Qi said icily.
Bai Tang's gaze fixed on the man before her, who seemed cold but had shown up the moment she was in danger. The curve of her lips deepened, and her eyes were completely soaked with amusement.
"Handsome, thank you for coming to save me today," Bai Tang said with a smile, her tone carrying a hint of sincerity.
Sheng Qi snorted, expressionless. "No need."
"Yes, there is!" Bai Tang insisted with a smile. "I'll treat you to a big dinner tomorrow night!"
With that, not giving Sheng Qi a chance to refuse, Bai Tang quickly opened the car door, got out, and dashed toward the villa.
Sheng Qi's gaze lingered on her retreating figure as she sprinted away. A faint glint flickered in his eyes. Only after she had completely disappeared did he slowly look away.
Sitting quietly in the car, Sheng Qi didn't leave immediately.
His gaze fell vacantly ahead. In truth, even if he hadn't come today, Bai Tang could have gotten out of it on her own.
After all, the girl was pretty skilled in combat.
She had plenty of tricks up her sleeve and could make a clean getaway.
Yet, the moment he received that text, he still felt a twinge of worry.
That girl was a sucker for good looks. Feng Zi, with his decent appearance and gentlemanly facade, could easily dazzle her.
Otherwise, why would she agree to have dinner with him?
At that thought, Sheng Qi's brow furrowed slightly.
The unease and irritation eased a bit when he saw she was unharmed.
Sheng Qi sighed. In the end, he didn't dwell on certain things. The only concern now was Feng Zi's motives.
