Early in the morning, Bai Tang arrived at school. She had barely sat down in her seat when the homeroom teacher came looking for her in person.
"Bai Tang, come to my office!" The teacher spoke with a stern expression, her gaze toward her tinged with reluctance and some unreadable emotion.
Once in the office, Bai Tang glanced at the middle-aged man sitting inside—the principal of Nancheng High School!
"Bai Tang, do you know why I called you here?" the principal began.
Bai Tang smiled, her face carrying a calm and composure beyond her years, and even her tone held a hint of indescribable sarcasm and mockery: "What did Bai Chengfeng ask you to do? Expel me?"
The principal looked at Bai Tang with some surprise, clearly not expecting her to say such a thing!
She saw through it so clearly.
The shock lasted only a moment before the principal continued, "Since you already know, go ahead and process your withdrawal now."
Bai Tang gave a faint smile, looking at him with a half-smirk: "What did Bai Chengfeng offer you to make you follow his orders so obediently?"
The principal's face darkened. "Bai Tang, watch your attitude!"
Bai Tang grinned roguishly. "What about my attitude?"
The principal snorted coldly. "Bai Chengfeng is your father. Since your father wants you to withdraw, the school can't say anything. Don't go around spouting nonsense—this school isn't a place for your wild talk."
"Ha..." Bai Tang let out a mocking laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" the principal demanded coldly, feeling an inexplicable sense of oppression from the girl before him, which irritated him.
"I'm laughing... at the possibility that your career might be ruined by Bai Chengfeng. Do you believe me?" Bai Tang said with a faint smile.
She didn't look at the principal but turned to the silent homeroom teacher beside her and said calmly, "What paperwork do I need to sign? Hurry up, I'm in a rush."
The teacher was taken aback, clearly stunned by Bai Tang's reaction.
Most girls in this situation would be at a loss, but she remained so calm and composed, as if this were no big deal.
The principal, annoyed by Bai Tang's attitude, snapped at the teacher, "Take her to process the withdrawal and make sure she leaves the school quickly."
The principal stared at Bai Tang as she walked away, especially when she turned back to give him a meaningful smile, which made him feel a pang of unease, a bad premonition spreading through him.
Bai Tang completed all the formalities. The teacher looked at her, feeling a pang of pity for her student of three years, but since it was Bai Tang's father who had insisted, there was nothing she could do.
"I know you don't like studying, but after you leave school, behave yourself. Don't hang around with those thugs. Don't go down the wrong path, or you'll regret it when you're older," the teacher said softly.
Bai Tang gave her a bright smile, offering her greatest goodwill.
Back in the classroom, she slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out under the puzzled gazes of everyone.
It was still morning self-study time, and a few students standing in the hallway as punishment naturally saw Bai Tang leave.
Moreover, when Bai Tang had gone to the office, some students had eavesdropped, so by the time she left the school, news of her expulsion had spread like wildfire.
When Zhang Xiaochu received the news, his face instantly turned grim.
The girl who had been talking to him yesterday about getting into University A for the college entrance exam was now expelled today!
No matter how he thought about it, Zhang Xiaochu believed Bai Tang had been wronged.
Grabbing his phone, Zhang Xiaochu slipped out through the back door.
