All eyes turned toward the doorway.
The woman had long hair cascading over her shoulders, delicate features so stunning they stirred the heart, and a champagne-colored gauze dress that made her appear ethereal. Her jet-black eyes were as beautiful as obsidian, yet they held a hint of eerie amusement. The slight upward curve of her red lips was three parts playful, seven parts mocking.
"Wow, who's that girl?" "She looks kind of familiar, doesn't she?" "Now that you mention it, I think so too... Doesn't she remind you of—" "Bai Tang!" Someone in the crowd said it, but then couldn't help doubting themselves. "Is that girl Bai Tang?" "It's her. Who would've thought that after ditching that alternative style, she'd turn out this gorgeous." "Even prettier than Bai Xi'er..." That last comment was said very quietly.
The shock and envy in everyone's eyes made Bai Xi'er deeply uncomfortable! Especially seeing Bai Tang, now radiant and striking, she couldn't help clenching her fists at her sides. When did this useless fool ever develop a sense of style?
Sheng Qi's gaze fell coldly on Bai Tang. Compared to yesterday, this woman actually looked presentable now!
Bai Tang sensed a dangerous stare and instinctively looked over, meeting Sheng Qi's deep, icy eyes. Oh, the beauty she hadn't had time to flirt with yesterday!
Bai Chengfeng's face darkened as he walked over to her, lowering his voice in warning: "Today is your sister's birthday party. Don't cause trouble, or don't blame me for being harsh!"
Bai Tang lowered her eyes slightly, a bitterly ironic smile flickering in them. Threatening her, huh? Should she play along?
Seeing Bai Tang with her head down, Bai Chengfeng thought she was intimidated and warned again in a low voice: "Go upstairs now. Don't embarrass yourself down here! Get lost immediately!"
After saying that, Bai Chengfeng turned to explain things to Sheng Qi, but just as he did, the person behind him suddenly fell to the floor with a thud, helplessly grabbing at the hem of his clothes. Bai Chengfeng frowned and looked back. "You again—"
"Dad, I promise I'll be good. Even though you couldn't control yourself and cheated while Mom was still alive, and brought Auntie and my sister back right after she passed, you're still my dad. I don't blame you. I can only say Mom didn't have the luck..."
Bai Tang spoke, her eyes reddening, and even let out a little sob.
Bai Chengfeng's face turned black. What was this brat saying? Accusing him of cheating during his marriage, in front of all these people, and with both daughters being the same age. Slapping him with the label of a scumbag!
Bai Chengfeng glared at her furiously, itching to hit her, but before he could raise his hand, Bai Tang, sitting on the floor, reached out and grabbed his wrist.
"I know Dad loves my sister. Everyone only knows the Bai family has one daughter, but I don't hate you. I just hope I can have a small place in this home to call my own. Dad, please don't kick me out or cut ties with me. I'll behave and won't upset the three of you."
Bai Xi'er was so angry she wanted to rush over and kill Bai Tang. Zhao Chengfang was fuming too, glaring at Bai Tang—for years, everyone had called her Mrs. Bai, and no one dared call her a mistress. This brat!
Bai Chengfeng frowned. Clearly, Bai Tang's speech had humiliated him completely. Just as he was about to speak, Bai Tang spoke again, pitifully: "Dad, today is my birthday too. I came back hoping to celebrate with you, but it seems I've come at a bad time. It's okay... I'll just go to the cemetery to find Mom..."
The girl's aggrieved expression, mixed with a hint of forced maturity, was even more endearing. The crowd's looks toward Bai Chengfeng and the other two shifted in tone.
Bai Chengfeng took a deep breath, suppressing his urge to explode.
The big boss Sheng, calmly watching the drama from the side, raised an eyebrow slightly and gave a four-word review of the girl crying like a pear blossom in the rain: A drama queen through and through!
