Sheng Qi was in a meeting when his phone buzzed with a text. He casually picked it up, but the moment he saw the image on the screen, his face darkened instantly.
Chu Er, who was reporting on the work, froze and stared at Sheng Qi.
Had he said something wrong?
Chu Er stopped, just gazing at Sheng Qi as his expression grew increasingly grim. Finally, unable to hold back, he blurted out, "Boss, did I mess up somewhere?"
The moment Chu Er finished speaking, Sheng Qi stood up from his seat, startling everyone in the room. All eyes snapped to him.
Without a word, Sheng Qi grabbed his phone and strode out.
Chu Yi sensed something was wrong and quickly followed.
You Yu and the others also rushed out after him.
"Boss, what happened?"
"Zhang Xiaochu and Bai Tang are in trouble!" Sheng Qi said coldly.
"What's wrong?" Chu Yi asked.
"I don't know!" Sheng Qi's face was grim. "It looks like Feng Zi did something to Zhang Xiaochu, and now Bai Tang's been dragged into it!"
Sheng Qi got into the car with a stony expression, and Chu Yi hurried in after him.
You Yu and the others followed in another car.
Sheng Qi drove fast, leaving the others behind, stunned.
The boss usually saved his speeding for the track; on roads like this, he kept it steady at sixty miles per hour. Today, he was flooring it!
"This can't be simple," You Yu said, stepping on the gas to keep up.
Chu Er wondered aloud, "Do you think that lunatic did something to the boss's woman?"
Otherwise, the boss wouldn't be this tense.
They fell silent, worry creeping into their hearts.
That was the boss's woman. Though Sheng Qi was too proud to say it outright, years of brotherhood told them he treated Bai Tang differently.
And that difference clearly meant he cared.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have let Bai Tang keep provoking him recklessly time and again.
Now, everyone's anxiety was mounting.
Chu Yi sat in the passenger seat, watching Sheng Qi's cold, expressionless face. The barely concealed worry and anger in his eyes made it clear—this was serious.
"Boss, what's the situation?" Chu Yi asked.
Sheng Qi didn't answer, just pushed the car to its limit.
Luckily, they were on the outskirts with few cars, and Sheng Qi's speed was relentless.
Everything had been calculated by Feng Zi.
His real target was Sheng Qi. Zhang Xiaochu and Bai Tang were just collateral—a lesson on the side.
From the club to the location, a normal drive took over ten minutes. At Sheng Qi's pace, it would only take a few.
By the time Sheng Qi's group arrived, Bai Tang and Feng Zi had just started their race.
Chu Yi noticed Zhang Xiaochu nearby and rushed over. "Are you okay?"
Zhang Xiaochu shook his head, his gaze falling on Sheng Qi as he approached, guilt and regret flickering in his eyes.
Sheng Qi didn't see Bai Tang. "Where's Bai Tang?" he asked coldly.
Zhang Xiaochu's lips were pale. "Racing with Feng Zi."
Hearing this, Sheng Qi's face darkened even more.
He wanted to lash out, but seeing Zhang Xiaochu's pallor, he held back and snapped at Chu Yi, "Take him to the hospital."
"I'm fine. I need to wait for Bai Tang," Zhang Xiaochu insisted.
He couldn't go to the hospital until he knew she was safe.
Chu Yi and the others urged him to leave, but Zhang Xiaochu stood firm. Sheng Qi said coldly, "Fine, let him stay. Let him see the mess he's caused."
No one spoke again, all watching Sheng Qi warily.
They knew the boss was truly angry.
Or maybe more than that—worried and scared.
