Faced with Bai Tang's sincere gaze, Sheng Qi felt a flicker of doubt, yet he also thought she probably wouldn't have just hit someone and then go looking for trouble again. "I'll handle Feng Zi's matter. Go get your backpack, and I'll take you to school!" Sheng Qi softened his tone, and the chill around him dissipated considerably. Bai Tang, seeing that he was finally appeased, opened the car door to retrieve her backpack. Though she didn't want to go to school today, if she didn't, the man beside her might kick her into the building! What a dedicated teacher!
Sheng Qi dropped her off at school, watching until Bai Tang entered the gates before driving away. He headed straight back to the hospital from earlier. Upon arriving at the entrance, he was stopped by bodyguards. After they reported his arrival, they let him inside. Feng Zi was propped against the headboard, receiving an IV drip. He glared coldly at Sheng Qi, his face bruised and swollen, making it hard to read his expression, though his eyes were icy and disdainful. "What does Mr. Sheng want with me?" Feng Zi's tone was frigid.
Sheng Qi paused for a moment at the sight of Feng Zi. Honestly, the car accident scene yesterday shouldn't have been this severe, right? Especially that bruised and swollen face—it was barely recognizable! Feng Zi noticed Sheng Qi's gaze on his face, the obvious shock and confusion in his eyes fueling a surge of anger within him. Recalling the pain of Bai Tang's fists landing on his face just moments ago, his chest heaved with rage, and the nearby monitor showed a rapid spike in his heart rate.
Sheng Qi observed that besides the bruises, there were red rashes on his face, neck, and arms, resembling an allergic reaction. He hadn't seen the bouquet Bai Tang mentioned when he entered. Could it be pollen allergy? And the face... did Bai Tang do that? In an instant, Sheng Qi pieced together a rough picture of what had happened. "I came to check on Mr. Feng's condition," Sheng Qi said, regaining his composure and looking at him coolly.
Feng Zi sneered, "Your people are quite something, Mr. Sheng—first crashing into me like this, then coming here this morning to beat me up!" Sheng Qi replied flatly, "Mr. Feng must be joking. With all these bodyguards around you, how could Bai Tang, a delicate girl, have come to hit you? Perhaps you had a nightmare last night." Feng Zi gritted his teeth, wanting to jump up in fury, but the pain from his injuries made him wince. "That damn girl is delicate? Are you blind?" Sheng Qi remained calm, "Mr. Feng should watch your health and avoid overexerting yourself. Know your limits in everything."
"Are you threatening me?" Feng Zi glared, teeth clenched. Sheng Qi looked at him steadily, "It's a well-meaning piece of advice." As Feng Zi was about to retort, Sheng Qi's cold voice cut in again, heavy with pressure, "Of course, you can also take it as a warning." Feng Zi glared at him, tempted to lash out at Sheng Qi without restraint, but he held onto his reason. Offending Sheng Qi wasn't the smartest move; unless absolutely necessary, he'd still show some respect. "Mr. Sheng, your people injured me to the point of hospitalization. Don't you owe me an explanation?" Feng Zi asked, restraining his temper, though his tone remained arrogant.
Sheng Qi replied expressionlessly, "You seem to have it wrong. It was you who injured two of my team members, and one is still in the hospital. I should be asking you, Mr. Feng, how do you plan to make amends?"
