Bai Tang turned her head to look at him. This awkward demeanor seemed even more like that child from back then.
"Don't worry, I've got your back from now on. No need to be afraid!" Bai Tang raised her hand and patted his head, feeling quite pleased.
Zhang Xiaochu's face darkened. "Do you know that a man's head isn't something you can just touch casually!"
"Alright, I won't do it again." Bai Tang replied smoothly.
Zhang Xiaochu let out a proud, light snort, but then felt that this snort didn't quite match his status. He cleared his throat, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere.
The car soon arrived at the destination.
Getting out of the car, Bai Tang swept her gaze around, finally landing on Zhou Jiami.
Zhou Jiami frowned as she watched the person approach, and she wanted to turn and leave.
"Zhou Jiami!" Bai Tang called out to stop her.
Zhou Jiami paused mid-step, turned her head to look at her, and furrowed her brows deeply. "What is it?"
"We're classmates, just saying hi!" Bai Tang said with a smile.
Zhou Jiami looked at her smile but felt a chill inside—there was no helping it, the shadow was too big!
"When did you two get so close?" Zhang Xiaochu asked with a grin.
Bai Tang smiled. "We've always been close!"
Zhang Xiaochu looked at the two of them with interest.
It seemed that day's match really had been won by Bai Tang!
Bai Tang chuckled, sensing a particularly intense gaze. She turned her eyes to meet Bai Xi'er's angry yet restrained glare.
Bai Tang raised an eyebrow slightly. Her arm hurt so much, yet she could still endure it to come here and play. It seemed this so-called good girl wasn't all that well-behaved after all!
Bai Tang shifted her gaze, landing on Si Rui beside Bai Xi'er. His handsome features looked elegant and charming. Although he was very good-looking, Bai Tang felt that her little brother Zhang Xiaochu was even more handsome!
After just a few seconds, Bai Tang looked away, then turned to Zhang Xiaochu. "I'm going to sit over there and rest. When your match is over, take me back."
Zhang Xiaochu grabbed her with a smile. "You're here to cheer me on—how can you just run off?"
As he spoke, Zhang Xiaochu pulled her and shoved her back into the sports car.
"You're planning to have me cheer you on from inside the car?" Bai Tang said with a half-smile. "Are you here to race or to pick up girls?"
"I'm here to take first place!" Zhang Xiaochu snorted coldly.
"Good spirit, keep it up!" Bai Tang patted his shoulder.
Zhang Xiaochu was taken aback. "I thought you'd see your crush and start roasting me."
"You're my little brother—how could I let anyone bully you?" Bai Tang grinned mischievously. "Don't worry, with me here today, there's no way I'll let anyone beat you."
Zhang Xiaochu found it amusing. "I thought that bump changed you, but now it seems you're still as blindly confident as ever!"
Bai Tang curled her lips. "This isn't blind confidence—it's sheer determination!"
Zhang Xiaochu paused, then burst out laughing.
"Bai Tang, I suddenly realize I misjudged you."
Zhang Xiaochu looked at her, a deep smile in his eyes. "From now on, you're under my protection. If anyone dares to mess with you, come to me, and I'll take care of them."
Zhang Xiaochu seemed in an especially good mood. As he spoke, he couldn't help but reach out and put an arm around her shoulder. "How about you be my girlfriend?"
Bai Tang remained calm, pulled his hand away, and said with a smile, "I already have someone. No touching."
Zhang Xiaochu paused, as if something clicked, and grinned. "So all that stuff you said at noon about not liking Si Rui was just lip service!"
Bai Tang smiled, her gaze fixed on a spot ahead, and said playfully, "My someone is right there."
