Since Zhang Xiaochu warned Bai Xi'er last time, the way everyone at school looked at Bai Tang had changed noticeably. Clearly, no one dared to openly provoke Bai Tang. After all, the school bully's protégé was untouchable!
On Friday, Bai Tang was about to head home after school when a classmate ran over and handed her a note. "Zhang Xiaochu asked me to give this to you!" The person said and then ran off.
Bai Tang opened the note: *Come to the alley behind the school gate. I have something to tell you.* Bai Tang raised an eyebrow, puzzled. Couldn't Zhang Xiaochu just message her directly? Why write a note? A prank?
The handwriting on the note was somewhat delicate. Though she'd never seen Zhang Xiaochu's writing, Bai Tang felt it didn't look like his at all! Casually tossing the note into the nearby trash can, Bai Tang initially planned to ignore it and go home. But then something struck her, and a sly, mischievous smile curled at the corners of her lips as she turned toward the back gate alley.
Entering the alley, she saw a girl standing with her back to her at the far end. From the silhouette alone, Bai Tang already recognized who it was! Hearing her footsteps, Bai Xi'er turned around.
"Disappointed? It's not your rumored leading man," Bai Xi'er said, her voice dripping with a hint of contempt.
Bai Tang smirked, crossing her arms and looking at her with a lazy, insolent air. "With handwriting as messy as a dog's crawl, comparing it to Zhang Xiaochu's is an insult to him. Did you really think your little scheme would work?"
Bai Xi'er's smug face instantly twisted into an ugly scowl at Bai Tang's blatant mockery. Her hands unconsciously clenched into fists.
"Spit it out. What do you want?" Bai Tang asked.
Bai Xi'er spoke coldly, "Give up all your shares."
"Ha..." Bai Tang laughed, eyeing her. "Who do you think you are?"
"Those were always Dad's. You have no right to them!" Bai Xi'er snapped angrily. "Bai Tang, Dad raised you all these years, and you still shamelessly take what's his!"
Bai Tang curled her lips into a roguish grin. "Take? You're absolutely right!"
Bai Xi'er's face darkened. "What do you mean?"
"All these years, how much have you taken from me? And your mother—how did she slowly drive my mom to her death? As for Bai Chengfeng... tsk, a total scumbag!" Bai Tang sneered. "He wasn't even married long before he kept a mistress outside. And I share the same birthday as you—how ironic!" "He doesn't know gratitude, and the richer he got, the more he wiped out my grandfather's family. Tsk, tsk, tsk..."
Bai Xi'er stared at Bai Tang, her face pale. Some of what Bai Tang said was news to her, and she didn't care about those things. But what got to her was Bai Tang's tone—the disdain, the sarcasm. It was as if, in Bai Tang's eyes, they were something filthy, something she looked down on and wanted to eliminate.
"Don't talk nonsense! My mom is Dad's true love. Your mom just refused to step aside!" Bai Xi'er blurted out. "And you—both you and your mother are so shameless, always stealing what's ours."
Bai Tang stared at her, the menace in her eyes undisguised, sending a chill through Bai Xi'er. She remembered the time Bai Tang had broken her hand and tensed up. Then, recalling she had brought backup, she straightened her back a little.
"Bai Tang, since you don't know what's good for you, don't blame me for being harsh!" Bai Xi'er smirked triumphantly. "Come on out, you guys!"
