At the red light ahead, Sheng Qi's hands on the steering wheel loosened and tightened again, his brows furrowed the entire time. With just a few seconds left on the red light, he couldn't hold back anymore and reached over to grab a bottle of medicine from the car, tossing it to someone. "Do it yourself!"
Bai Tang was taken aback for a moment, then looked at the medicine bottle and grinned mischievously. "Beauty, are you worried about me?"
The light turned green. Sheng Qi started the car with a blank expression and said coldly, "Do you want me to kick you out of the car?"
Bai Tang smiled calmly. "You've already given me this car, so it's mine!"
Sheng Qi snorted.
Bai Tang gave a roguish grin and teased coolly, "Besides, they say a son is closer to his mom, so if anyone's getting out, it should be you!"
Sheng Qi pressed his lips together, glancing at the red mark on the other's forehead. Sure enough, he'd gone too easy on her!
Bai Tang looked in the mirror, examined herself from all angles, then applied the ointment to her forehead. The cool, refreshing sensation felt nice. She smiled, but there was a hint of calculation in it.
Getting hit by him like that—if she didn't get back at him, she'd lose face!
She put the ointment away and slipped it into her bag. Leaning back against the seat, Bai Tang turned her head to watch Sheng Qi, who was driving with a serious expression.
The soft piano music filled the car. A glint of cunning flashed in Bai Tang's eyes as she pulled out her phone and connected it to the car's Bluetooth.
A few seconds later, the piano was replaced by a pounding heavy metal track.
Sheng Qi: "..."
Bai Tang laughed cheerfully. "Songs like this really hit the spot! Don't you feel the urge to speed up?"
Sheng Qi pretended not to hear.
Bai Tang watched him, taking in his distinctly cold gaze, and felt a surge of delight.
When his ears could no longer take it, Sheng Qi finally increased his speed—which had been relatively slow—and reached the club in half the time it would have taken before. He parked the car and immediately turned off the engine, the music vanishing in an instant, giving his ears some relief.
Bai Tang looked at him and couldn't help bursting into laughter. "So the beauty does have a passionate heart after all!"
Sheng Qi shot her a chilly glance and turned to leave.
Watching his retreating figure, Bai Tang laughed and quickly caught up, reaching out to grab his arm. She spoke cheerfully, "You have to wait for your Tangtang when you walk!"
"Let go!" Sheng Qi warned.
Bai Tang ignored him, holding his arm tightly. Sheng Qi tried to pull free but failed, eventually giving up.
The two of them drew countless curious, gossipy looks along the way.
"What's the deal between this girl and the boss?" people murmured.
"Are they dating? Otherwise, why would the boss let her drive his favorite car?"
"..."
Listening to the gossip behind her, Bai Tang smiled and said, "Beauty, they're saying we're a couple. So, when are we going public?"
Sheng Qi snorted. "You'd better stay a little farther away from me, while I can still control myself from throwing a punch."
"Fight?" Bai Tang's eyes lit up. "Bring it on!"
Sheng Qi took a deep breath, pressed his lips together coldly, and gave up talking to her.
When he pushed open the door to the meeting room, the lively crowd all turned to look. Seeing the two of them walk in arm in arm, knowing smiles spread across their faces—except for one glare that could cut glass.
"Bai Tang, get the hell over here!" Zhang Xiaochu snorted, his eye socket still bruised.
Bai Tang looked at his furious expression, especially the bruise around his eye, which today made him look even more like a panda—fierce but cute.
She let go of Sheng Qi's arm and walked toward Zhang Xiaochu's spot. The sudden emptiness at his wrist made Sheng Qi's gaze darken briefly, but he quickly regained his composure and headed to his own seat.
Bai Tang sat down, looked at Zhang Xiaochu, and couldn't help teasing with a laugh. "You look adorable with that makeup on!"
Zhang Xiaochu: "..."
Damn, is that supposed to be a compliment?
"I'd love to see this cute version of you every day!" Bai Tang said with a smile.
Sheng Qi paused slightly as he pulled out his chair, lifting his eyes to look at the girl with the roguish grin. His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
