Chapter 204: Chapter 204: New Partner Joins

As Wen Qi watched Duraludon and Axew immerse themselves in the energy of Dragon Island, the Noibat nearby could no longer contain itself. It flapped its wings joyfully and quickly darted over to them.

Noibat circled the two newcomers a few times, buzzing incessantly as if enthusiastically introducing itself. Duraludon and Axew were a bit flustered by this sudden burst of energy but soon caught on to Noibat's liveliness.

Noibat flew up to Duraludon, bobbing up and down as it said, "Hey, new buddy, let me tell you—around here, Dragonair is the boss, and I'm second in command. You two newbies better listen to me from now on!" Then it zipped over to Axew and continued chattering, "And you, little one, don't be scared. Stick with me, and I'll make sure you have a blast here!"

Duraludon and Axew exchanged a glance, seeming a bit resigned to this overly enthusiastic little creature but not resisting. Dragonair observed the two newcomers from the side, its bright eyes carefully scrutinizing them. When it sensed that their strength was far below its own, it breathed a sigh of relief, and the scales that had slightly bristled smoothed down.

Dragonair slithered closer and gave a slight nod, as if acknowledging the new companions. For it, as long as these two didn't threaten its position as the leader, it didn't mind having a couple more underlings.

Noibat grew even more excited. It led Duraludon and Axew around Dragon Island, chattering nonstop about everything. "Over here's where we usually play, and over there is Dragonair's training ground," Noibat's voice echoed through the air. Duraludon followed behind, occasionally glancing around curiously, while Axew hopped along, trying to keep up with Noibat's pace.

Before long, the three Pokémon were playing together. Noibat showed off its flying skills in the air, Duraludon watched quietly from the side, and Axew ran around happily on the ground. Wen Qi watched them bond quickly, a gratified smile spreading across his face.

As he observed Duraludon and Axew playing, he could clearly see their information.

Pokémon: Duraludon Level: 10 Type: Steel + Dragon Ability: Heavy Metal (Doubles the Pokémon's weight) Potential: Deep Yellow Moves: Leer (Beginner), Metal Claw (Beginner), Rock Smash (Beginner), Hone Claws (Beginner), Double-Edge (Beginner), Dragon Claw (Beginner), Dragon Tail (Beginner), Iron Defense (Beginner)

Seeing the moves, it seemed they hadn't been trained much before, which made sense—they were likely only recently hatched, probably less than three months out of the infant stage. Given the nursery's care and this potential, it was fairly reasonable.

Pokémon: Axew Level: 9 Type: Dragon Ability: Mold Breaker (Moves can be used regardless of the target's Ability) Potential: Deep Yellow Moves: Leer (Beginner), Scratch (Beginner), Bite (Beginner), False Swipe (Beginner), Assurance (Beginner), Dragon Claw (Beginner), Taunt (Beginner), Dragon Tail (Beginner)

As for Axew, its situation was similar to Duraludon's. The data was all pretty standard—no surprises, no disappointments. Both of them, along with Munchlax, had Deep Yellow potential. While this was sufficient for now, it would still slow down their growth rate. After letting these Pokémon rest a few more days in the small world, he'd give them potions to boost their potential, which would benefit them later.

Watching the three Pokémon playing together, along with Dragonair by his side, he felt it was about time—almost dinner. He planned to call them over, give some instructions, and then head out to eat.

Wen Qi looked at the three frolicking Pokémon, cleared his throat, and raised his voice, "Alright, little ones, come over here. I have something to say."

Hearing Wen Qi's call, the four Pokémon stopped what they were doing and gathered around him. Wen Qi first turned to Dragonair, his expression serious. "Dragonair, you're their leader, so take responsibility. I'll have the food increased, and you'll be in charge of storing and distributing it to make sure everyone gets enough. Also, the new companions just arrived, so take good care of them. Lead them in training and help them get used to life here. Especially Noibat—keep an eye on it for me. That kid's too playful and doesn't train properly. Don't let it slack off."

Dragonair listened attentively and nodded. "Master, don't worry. I'll take good care of the new ones and make sure Noibat trains hard."

Wen Qi patted Dragonair's head approvingly, then turned his gaze to Noibat. The little bat still looked carefree, and Wen Qi couldn't help but frown as he scolded, "Noibat, look at you—always playing and never training properly. Keep this up, and Duraludon and Axew will surpass you. Then you won't be second in command anymore. If the newbies are stronger than you, what face will you have left to stay on Dragon Island?"

Noibat, who had been unconcerned, widened its eyes in panic at Wen Qi's words. It flapped its wings frantically and said urgently, "Master, I know I was wrong! I'll train hard from now on. I won't let the new ones surpass me."

Seeing Noibat's apparent change, Wen Qi felt a bit relieved and softened his tone. "Good. Mean what you say, and follow through with action, not just words."

Then Wen Qi looked at Duraludon and Axew, speaking gently, "Duraludon, Axew, you've just arrived, so you might still be a little unsettled. But that's okay—this is a great place to grow. Train hard and work on improving your strength. If anything comes up, go to Dragonair. He's your leader and will help you solve problems. Remember, strength is the foundation for survival in this world."

Duraludon and Axew nodded obediently. Duraludon said, "Master, we understand. We'll train hard." Axew let out a couple of "Axew" cries to show it understood.

Wen Qi smiled at them. "Alright, I trust you. I'm heading out now. Train well here, and no slacking off." With that, he turned and slowly walked away.

The four Pokémon watched his retreating figure until he was out of sight, then snapped back to reality. Dragonair cleared its throat and said, "Alright, you heard the master, right? Let's start training."

Noibat quickly flew over to Dragonair, buttering it up. "Boss, I'll listen to you from now on. Let's train hard together." Dragonair shot it a look. "Hmph, good. No more slacking."

Duraludon and Axew also came over, saying in unison, "Boss, we'll work hard too." Dragonair nodded. "Then let's start with basic stamina training—three laps around Dragon Island."

With that, Dragonair took the lead, and the other three Pokémon followed close behind. Dragonair, at the front, moved swiftly and gracefully. Noibat flew while panting heavily, muttering, "I can't go on, I can't go on, I'm done for." Dragonair called back, "Noibat, hang in there, don't slack off." Duraludon and Axew, though struggling, gritted their teeth and pushed through.

After finishing the three laps, Dragonair led them into skill training. It demonstrated various Dragon-type moves, each one smooth and powerful. "Watch closely, like this," Dragonair said. Noibat tried hard to mimic the movements but couldn't get the hang of it. Dragonair patiently guided it, "Flap your wings with force, and keep the motions fluid." After some practice, Noibat finally made progress. "Boss, I think I'm getting the knack," it said excitedly. Dragonair replied, "Not bad, keep it up."

Duraludon and Axew also practiced their own moves diligently. Their progress was slow but steady. After a while, Dragonair called for a break. Noibat plopped down on the ground, saying, "Man, I'm exhausted. But to keep my spot as second in command, I've got to push myself." Duraludon and Axew were also catching their breath, but their eyes were filled with determination. Dragonair said, "Rest up, then we'll continue. We can't let the master down."

And so, under Dragonair's leadership, the three Pokémon trained earnestly. Dragon Island was filled with their hardworking figures and unwavering resolve.
