?
Ren Yuan gripped his phone, listening to the mechanical beeping on the other end of the line, his expression instantly turning grim.
He was about to head to Dingsheng Group to find Su Banxia when Gu Feifei’s sudden arrival disrupted his plans.
“Feifei?”
Ren Yuan was slightly taken aback. “Why aren’t you resting in the hospital? What are you doing out here?”
“Ren Yuan.”
Gu Feifei’s voice was thick with tears. She stepped forward weakly and grabbed his arm. “Do you really not love me anymore?”
Hearing this, Ren Yuan froze, his gaze growing distant. “Feifei, don’t overthink things. Go back and rest. You’re not well.”
Seeing him like this only fueled Gu Feifei’s anger. Her eyes held a hint of resentment, but her words came out pitifully soft. “Did Su Banxia say something to you? Is that why you’re misunderstanding me? I haven’t done anything—I’ve been wronged!”
“She…”
“I’ve been in the hospital for so long. Why won’t you stay and keep me company?”
Gu Feifei’s face was pale, drained of all color.
Thinking about how Ren Yuan had been treating her lately, she felt a deep ache in her heart.
Ren Yuan felt a pang of guilt. He still couldn’t manage the relationship between these two women properly.
With Gu Feifei, it had been a fleeting attraction—he couldn’t resist her looks and made a mistake. But with Su Banxia, Ren Yuan knew deep down that no matter what, he couldn’t forget her—whether in his heart or his mind.
With that thought, Ren Yuan subtly pulled his hand away. “I have things to take care of. I’ll have the driver take you back to the hospital. I’ll come see you later.”
Without waiting for Gu Feifei’s response, he turned and left.
Watching his retreating figure, Gu Feifei’s fingers curled into her palms, her hatred growing. Just outside the office, she had clearly heard Ren Yuan’s phone call with Su Banxia.
The tenderness in his voice was something he had never used with her!
“Su Banxia!”
A cold glint flashed in Gu Feifei’s eyes, her animosity unmistakable.
Meanwhile, Su Banxia, sitting in her office, suddenly felt a chill run down her spine and couldn’t help but shiver.
“What do you want for lunch?”
Pei Shaoze sat at the CEO’s desk, his voice unusually gentle.
“Huh?”
Su Banxia was caught off guard. She tilted her head, thought for a moment, then smiled. “I think that new Western restaurant on the next street over is pretty good.”
Pei Shaoze glanced at her sidelong and silently noted it.
At lunch, Pei Shaoze boldly led Su Banxia out of the company. Walking one after the other, they drew a lot of attention.
Standing in the VIP elevator, Su Banxia felt her legs go weak. Her reputation at the company was already notorious, and after today, who knew what version of the story would circulate.
“Does eating with me make you that unhappy?”
Sensing her unease, Pei Shaoze frowned slightly.
“No, it’s not that.”
Su Banxia was nervous and quickly shook her head.
The atmosphere in the elevator was stifling, but thankfully it didn’t last long.
Stepping out of the elevator, Su Banxia steadied herself and quickly caught up with the figure ahead. Under the envious and hateful stares of everyone, she hurried into the car, her face flushed.
Not far away, Fang Shiqing watched the scene unfold, a faint, amused smile curling at her lips.
These two dating—why did it look so awkward?
“Shiqing.”
Zhang Shanshan, sharp-eyed, spotted her and waved.
“Shanshan.”
Fang Shiqing smiled and walked over. “I was just about to look for you.”
Zhang Shanshan chuckled. “Didn’t prepare lunch for President Yan today?”
At this, Fang Shiqing’s cheeks flushed slightly. She wasn’t sure if Su Banxia’s advice would work.
“I’ve been a bit busy, so I forgot.”
“Oh, I see. President Yan was just mentioning you earlier. Without your cooking, he’d go hungry.”
Zhang Shanshan said casually, as if it were nothing.
Fang Shiqing’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“President Yan seems to have gotten hooked on your meals lately. I sometimes bring soup, but he never seems to miss it.”
Zhang Shanshan naturally stepped forward and linked arms with her.
Hearing this news, Fang Shiqing was almost ecstatic. Could it mean Yan Xin had feelings for her too?
Sensing the joy radiating from the person beside her, a hint of malice flickered in Zhang Shanshan’s eyes.
“Oh, Shanshan.”
Fang Shiqing suddenly stopped and looked at her seriously. “Can you do me a favor?”
“Hmm?”
Zhang Shanshan raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Fang Shiqing’s face turned red with shyness. She cleared her throat and said slowly, “You’re Yan Xin’s personal assistant. Can you tell me his schedule from now on?”
“Are you planning to make a move?”
Zhang Shanshan asked, half-joking, half-serious.
“No, I just want to know everything about him. Know your enemy and yourself, and you’ll never lose!”
Fang Shiqing smiled openly.
She wanted to grasp every detail about Yan Xin and create opportunities to run into him.
Seeing her coy, girlish demeanor, Zhang Shanshan nodded slightly. “I’ll tell you everything I know.”
“I love you, Shanshan!”
Fang Shiqing was so excited she threw her arms around Zhang Shanshan’s neck.
Zhang Shanshan smiled but said nothing, though resentment simmered inside her.
After a quick meal, Fang Shiqing couldn’t wait to head to Yan Xin’s office. Seeing his focused figure at the desk, her heart soared.
Sensing someone approaching, Yan Xin looked up. “Manager Fang?”
“President Yan, I worked late last night, so I got up late this morning and didn’t have time to make lunch.”
Fang Shiqing paused, then continued, “I brought this back from the restaurant just now.”
“Oh?”
Yan Xin glanced at the lunchbox she placed in front of him and smiled lightly. “You didn’t have to go to all this trouble.”
“President Yan.”
Fang Shiqing smiled, looking at him earnestly. “Don’t work too hard. Make sure to rest.”
With that, before Yan Xin could respond, she fled the office.
