Chu Junyu nodded. "I heard you gave birth to twins back then."
Chu Lingzhi felt a buzz in her head. She gave birth to twins?
To her, it was a shocking piece of news.
Seeing her stunned and incredulous expression, Chu Junyu pursed his lips and gently patted her face a few times with his little hand.
"Mommy, whether it's one or two, having two sons in one birth is harder than winning the lottery. You should feel happy."
The crisp, childish voice didn't snap Chu Lingzhi out of her daze.
Nangong Yehen's eyes flickered slightly. This kid had a point.
Having two sons in one go was indeed harder than winning the lottery.
"Mommy, you're not scared silly, are you?" Chu Junyu waved his little hand in front of Chu Lingzhi's eyes.
This was a good thing—why be so surprised?
"Mommy, don't get scared silly. If you go dumb, what will I do? Geez, your reaction is way off from what I imagined. We should be happy to have a little brother."
"Happy my foot, I want to cry!" Chu Lingzhi suddenly snapped back to reality and glared at the handsome Chu Junyu, shouting loudly.
Chu Junyu rubbed his ears and frowned. "Mommy, can't you be a little gentler in front of Master Nangong? You're about to burst your precious baby's eardrums."
"Why should I be gentle in front of him? The gentler I am, the more he'll want to take you away from me!" Chu Lingzhi tightened her arms, firmly securing Chu Junyu's small body.
She shot a warning look at Nangong Yehen. "Nangong Yehen, you have one son, I have one son—we're even. If you dare take Chu Junyu away, I'll fight you to the death!"
Nangong Yehen curled his lips into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. "What if I said we can have both sons together?"
"I don't understand what you mean."
Nangong Yehen glanced at the scar on her arm. "You'll stay at the Nangong Manor."
"Stay here?" Chu Lingzhi looked at him in surprise.
"In a few days, Yichen will be back." Nangong Yehen coldly stared at Chu Lingzhi. "I want both my sons to grow up with their parents."
"Mommy, Yichen is your younger son, my little brother," Chu Junyu reminded her gently.
Chu Lingzhi's emotions were tangled. Overnight, she had gained another son—she felt like she was dreaming.
She pinched hard with her fingers.
"Ah..." Chu Junyu yelped in pain.
Nangong Yehen and Huo Luan's expressions shifted drastically, nearly rushing over to separate them.
"Mommy, why did you pinch my little butt?" Chu Junyu looked at Chu Lingzhi with innocent grievance. "It's not my fault you got another son."
"Sorry, baby. Mommy was trying to pinch herself to see if it hurts. If it does, then I'm not dreaming," Chu Lingzhi quickly explained.
"Then pinch yourself, why pinch my butt?"
"Mommy is thanking you."
Chu Junyu cupped Chu Lingzhi's pretty face with his little hands. "Mommy, you're not dreaming. This is all real."
Chu Lingzhi's expression grew heavy as she silently stared at Chu Junyu.
After about a minute, she suddenly laughed—a cold laugh.
She looked at Nangong Yehen. "You want both sons to grow up with their parents? Master Nangong, are you sure those words came from you?"
"I'm sure."
"What made you change your mind?"
"I've always thought this way."
