Bai Chengfeng's expression darkened briefly before returning to normal. "Second Young Master, you jest. These are nothing but baseless rumors, utterly untrustworthy!"
Feng Zi curled his lips into a smile, exuding the polished charm of a gentleman. "So it's just gossip! I was thinking, if it were true, I could help Mr. Bai reclaim the upper hand!"
Bai Chengfeng chuckled and shook his head. "It's false."
He was uncertain of Feng Zi's stance, for there was no such thing as a free lunch. Feng Zi's background was too complex, and Bai Chengfeng dared not rashly involve him in the Bai Group. After all, inviting a deity is easy, but sending one away is hard!
Compared to Bai Tang, Bai Chengfeng feared Feng Zi more. Even though Bai Tang now held most of the company's shares and had humiliated him at today's shareholder meeting, Bai Chengfeng wasn't intimidated by him. To him, dealing with Bai Tang was simple—just a matter of time. A clueless high schooler, did he really think he could turn the tables in Bai Chengfeng's palm? Ridiculous!
But Feng Zi was different. He had heard of this man, and he was clearly more dangerous. Bai Chengfeng had no intention of letting an outsider get a piece of the Bai Group. With Feng Zi, it might not stop at just a slice.
Feng Zi watched Bai Chengfeng's slick demeanor and spoke with a faint, knowing smile. "It seems Mr. Bai is quite wary of me."
"Second Young Master, you're joking," Bai Chengfeng replied with a smile. "What you mentioned earlier is indeed just a rumor. If anything ever comes up, I hope you'll lend your full support."
Feng Zi cursed the old fox under his breath but kept his composure, smiling without revealing his thoughts. "A few days ago, Miss Bai came to see me," he said casually.
Bai Chengfeng's smile froze for a split second before returning to normal. "Is that so? I wasn't aware my daughter knew you, Second Young Master."
"Aren't you curious about why she sought me out?" Feng Zi's smile carried a hint of depth.
Bai Chengfeng refused to follow his lead, maintaining an air of nonchalance. "I rarely meddle in my daughter's friendships. It's her honor to have made your acquaintance."
Feng Zi found Bai Chengfeng's evasive, tai chi-like attitude quite irritating. "I'm genuinely curious—what's the bad blood between you and Miss Bai? She once swore she'd take back the entire Bai Group and drive you out. I've heard your relationship has been strained for years. Is that true? It seems Miss Bai is determined to get her revenge this time."
Feng Zi's gaze fixed on Bai Chengfeng's shifting expression, a sneer of contempt forming in his mind. When he caught the flicker of malice and ruthlessness in Bai Chengfeng's eyes, he smiled with satisfaction.
After a long pause, Bai Chengfeng snapped back to reality. Seeing Feng Zi idly playing with a lighter, he realized Feng Zi had thoroughly investigated everything. Straightening up, he asked gravely, "What do you want from me, Second Young Master?"
Feng Zi met Bai Chengfeng's guarded eyes and smirked. "How far are you willing to go against such a rebellious daughter?"
"Has Bai Tang offended you?" Bai Chengfeng asked. If so, things would be much simpler.
Feng Zi chuckled and added, "Your daughter seems quite clever and articulate."
Bai Chengfeng was silent for three seconds before replying coldly, "I'll give you a satisfactory answer."
Feng Zi's lips curved into a pleased smile.
