Sheng Qi reached for his phone again, but only ten minutes had passed.
After repeating this motion several times, he suddenly stopped, his brows furrowing tightly.
He withdrew his gaze and refocused on the documents in front of him.
Once he finished handling them, he picked up the phone again—an hour had gone by. Yet the screen still showed the message he had sent Bai Tang earlier, with no reply from her.
Sheng Qi’s already unpleasant expression turned extremely grim.
After a long silence, he picked up the phone once more, directly found Bai Tang’s number, and dialed.
Soon, a mechanical voice came from the other end: “Sorry, the number you dialed is powered off. Please try again later…”
Sheng Qi hung up coldly.
Ha, daring to turn off her phone!
Impressive!
Tossing the phone aside, Sheng Qi took a deep breath, his face dark beyond words.
He averted his gaze and coldly dealt with the remaining tasks.
After finishing, he glanced at his phone—still no reply.
Late at night, Sheng Qi lay in bed, ready to rest. He turned his head to look at the phone on the nightstand—still no response. He let out a cold laugh.
Really something, keeping it off the whole time!

Bai Tang talked with Bai Wu for a long time.
They hadn’t seen each other in ten years, but there was no awkwardness between them; instead, they had endless topics to discuss.
On top of that, Bai Tang had previously instructed Bai Wu on some tasks, and after he reported back on each one, the two of them discussed their next plans.
If Bai Wu hadn’t noticed how late it was, he would have wanted to keep talking.
“Let’s stop here for today. Get some rest early,” Bai Wu said softly.
Bai Tang nodded. Her body really felt fragile during her period!
“The guest room on the first floor—sleep there. See what you need, and we’ll buy it tomorrow.”
Bai Wu nodded. “Go to sleep. Good night.”
“Good night.”
Bai Tang got up and headed upstairs. After washing up and getting ready to sleep, she instinctively wanted to check her phone, but remembered it had died at school and was still off.
She grabbed the charger to plug it in, but didn’t turn it on. She just lay down, too tired and sleepy to bother, and fell asleep quickly.
That night, compared to the previous one, she slept especially soundly.
Early the next morning, Bai Wu knocked on her door and spoke softly, “Miss, get up for breakfast. I’ll take you to school!”
“Mm.” Bai Tang mumbled a reply from under the covers, taking a while to get up.
When she came downstairs, Bai Wu had already prepared a full table of breakfast—all her favorites from before.
Bai Tang looked at it, a faint smile spreading across her face as she recalled her childhood.
When her parents weren’t home, only Bai Wu took care of her. He would cook her delicious food and look after her very well.
She ate her breakfast quietly, feeling like she was back in those days when it was just the two of them relying on each other.
She curled the corner of her mouth, a hint of self-mockery in it. Now, wasn’t it just her and him left?
“What’s wrong? Not to your taste?” Bai Wu asked.
Bai Tang pushed aside those negative emotions, looked up at Bai Wu, and smiled slightly. “No, it’s delicious!”
“Eat slowly. There’s still time. I’ll take you to school later,” Bai Wu said gently.
Bai Tang smiled and ate her breakfast at a leisurely pace.
Just as the two of them came out and were about to get in the car to head to school, a sharp screech of brakes sounded. A car stopped in front of them, the door opened, and Sheng Qi stepped out.
Bai Tang raised an eyebrow slightly and said with a smile, “Good morning, Beau—Mr. Sheng!”
Sheng Qi’s already sour expression turned even worse at her words.
