His gaze was fixed straight ahead at the school gate, a glimmer of anticipation shining in his eyes. At that moment, a car pulled up and stopped not far from him. Though Bai Wu was eager to see Bai Tang, he remained highly alert to his surroundings. Naturally, when the car window rolled down, he caught sight of the person inside. With just one exchanged glance, Bai Wu knew that the person in the car was no ordinary individual. However, this was a stranger’s face, and Bai Wu didn’t think it was someone sent by Feng Zi. After all, comparing the aura emanating from this person to that lunatic Feng Zi, they weren’t even on the same level. The world was full of hidden talents, so Bai Wu wasn’t overly surprised by such a presence. He quickly averted his gaze, looked back toward the school gate, and even started walking in that direction.
Sheng Qi stared at the man approaching the school gate, his eyes narrowing slightly. A stranger? And one who looked quite dangerous. From the man’s gait, he could tell he was trained in martial arts, and the aura radiating from him gave Sheng Qi a sense of peril, especially the scar at the corner of his eye, as if it had been cut by some sharp object. Sheng Qi frowned slightly. Why would such a dangerous-looking figure appear at a school? Yet, contradicting the man’s overall demeanor was the expectant smile on his face. It seemed like he was waiting for someone important? It didn’t look like he was here to cause trouble at the school. Sheng Qi withdrew his gaze from the man, looked down, and pulled out his phone to send Bai Tang a message: “Are you out of class yet?” But after several minutes, Bai Tang still hadn’t replied.
Bai Tang had slept through the entire day in the classroom, her period making her truly miserable as she rested her head on the desk. She finally felt a bit better by the time school was over. Packing up, Bai Tang prepared to head home. She took out her phone to call Bai Wu and ask where he was. But when she looked at it, the battery was dead. Bai Tang walked slowly toward the gate, her energy and spirits not particularly high. Just as she reached the entrance, she heard an excited voice: “Miss!” Bai Tang turned her head toward the voice, a smile slowly spreading across her face: “So soon?” Bai Wu’s face was full of smiles. Seeing Bai Tang in person, he still couldn’t believe it—he had seen a corpse before, yet this identical face left him incredulous. Bai Wu stepped forward, pulling Bai Tang into a hug, his excitement hard to contain. Bai Tang’s face also lit up with a brilliant smile as she hugged him back.
Not far away, Sheng Qi paused in the act of getting out of the car, his eyes fixed on the two embracing at the gate, his brow furrowing almost imperceptibly. Who was this man? Soon, Bai Wu let go of her and, with practiced ease, reached out to take Bai Tang’s backpack. Bai Tang didn’t refuse, letting him carry it. The two walked toward the gate, Bai Tang planning to take him back to the villa. As they reached the roadside, she noticed the familiar car parked nearby. Bai Tang froze slightly, meeting Sheng Qi’s probing gaze. She knew there was no way to avoid him. “Xiao Wu, wait for me a moment!” With that, Bai Tang stepped forward and walked over to Sheng Qi. “Beauty, did you come to pick me up?” Bai Tang asked with a smile. Sheng Qi stared at her, then cast a probing glance at the man standing quietly and waiting nearby. After just a second, he shifted his gaze back to Bai Tang: “Aren’t you going to introduce me?”
